This is a parental leave cover contract and will last for a minimum of 9 months, but may be extended further.
We are looking for an experienced, talented and highly motivated lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses.
This opportunity will give you exposure to a wide range of work across a number of different jurisdictions, with a primary focus on the Channel Islands and the UK.
Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will cover a variety of legal issues concerning alternative investment funds, financial services regulation and commercial contracts. Amongst others, the following responsibilities apply to this position:
Prepare and negotiate the businesses’ engagement terms of business with external clients and their lawyers
Provide pro-active, professional, competent, effective and creative legal advice to the business in the areas of financial services regulation
Work closely with other members of the Legal Team
Collaborate with internal business teams and support functions such as Compliance and Risk
Represent the Group in commercial contract negotiations with third party suppliers
Skills, knowledge and expertise
Bachelor's degree in Law
Admitted as a solicitor
3-6 years post-qualification experience
Legal experience in financial services regulation and alternative investment funds
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment – ability to deliver with demanding deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team when required
Negotiation and drafting skills as well as a commercial mindset
Ability to articulate clear business advice with a commercial focus and with high quality written and verbal communication
Strong attention to detail
Capable of identifying, focusing and prioritising key issues with an ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
Can-do attitude
Good interpersonal skills
Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)
We will provide the training, both in house for relevant technical knowledge and also professional qualifications to enhance your professional development. You will need to be quick to learn new systems and great with people, as close working relationships between our colleagues and clients is at the heart of what we do.
