While we have a diverse set of technologies and services running here at Zoopla, we don't expect you to know all of them and would love to hear from you if you have experience in just a few of them.
As an Engineering Manager at Zoopla:
- Line manage, coach and mentor software engineers; focusing on their engagement, retention, growth and performance, while promoting a culture of innovation, teamwork and self-improvement
- You will spend 40% of time with line management and the other 60% making technical contributions to your team.
- On the frontend you’ll work with React, Nx ,Vercel and TypeScript. On the backend it's Node.js, Next.js, and GraphQL, all written in TypeScript, but also Golang and Python. App experience and candidates who are comfortable working with React Native is particularly desirable. Our data stores include both SQL and NoSQL, and you’ll be guided by our data and Core Infra/Platform teams as you work with AWS, GitHub/GitLab, CI, and increasingly with serverless technologies.
- A willingness to flex your skills across the various layers of the stack is expected for the role. If you’re interested in growing your full-stack development skill set, we’re happy to support you.
- However, you do not need to have experience in these specific technologies, as long as you are willing to work with them
- You will have diligently practiced your engineering craft, mastering your skills in techniques such as test first thinking, refactoring, clean code and pair programming
- The product(s) you’ve built will have delighted users (perhaps millions of them!) while being stable, performant, observable and supportable.
- You will have played key roles in designing and implementing new architectures and technical strategies, while also looking after existing technology real estate
- Importantly, you will have achieved many of the things above while also teaching others, and maybe even sharing your journey and knowledge publicly
