As a Design Manager, you will lead and manage a team of talented game designers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality game design. You will collaborate closely with other departments, such as art, programming, and production, to ensure the successful execution of design concepts throughout the development cycle.
Key Duties Include
- Lead and manage a team of talented game designers, providing valuable mentorship, guidance, and support throughout the game development process.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including artists, programmers, and producers to develop and refine innovative game design concepts that align with the overall vision of the project.
- Ensure the successful implementation of design ideas and mechanics by overseeing the detailed planning, execution, and delivery of game content.
- Effectively document and communicate design requirements and guidelines to the team, ensuring a shared understanding and alignment on the creative vision.
- Playtest and iterate on game design elements to ensure a high level of quality, taking into consideration player feedback and balancing gameplay mechanics to create a captivating and enjoyable user experience.
- Stay actively engaged with industry trends and best practices in game design, continuously seeking inspiration and exploring new ideas to push the boundaries of innovative gaming experiences.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role in game design, demonstrating the ability to effectively lead and guide teams towards successful game development.
- Strong understanding of game design principles and methodologies, showcasing a deep knowledge of various game mechanics, player experience, and industry trends.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, allowing for effective cross-team collaboration, clear communication of ideas, and the ability to provide clear direction to team members.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing dependencies, showing an ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines such as artists, programmers, and producers, while managing dependencies effectively.
- Proficiency with game design tools and software, demonstrating a high level of skill and expertise with industry-standard software and tools, such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance, with a strong ability to analyze and evaluate game mechanics and provide insightful feedback to enhance gameplay experiences.
- Passion for gaming and a strong creative vision, with a true love for games, a deep understanding of player motivations, and a strong creative vision to innovate and create unique and compelling game experiences.
