About Us
The International Tax Department within Capital One is responsible for the Tax Affairs of the worldwide Group. In the UK we have a small team of employees who work closely with our non-US Businesses in dealing with their Tax affairs.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the International Tax team, ensuring UK and Canadian Tax compliance is well managed - this includes income tax and VAT. You will also be responsible for aspects of the global tax strategy, alongside your line manager, and be a key member of the UK Finance Leadership team.
What you’ll do
Manage the preparation, reconciliation, and review of all UK and Canadian Corporate Income Tax and indirect tax obligations including delegation to and review of analysis to support tax activities prepared by finance colleagues
Review of certain annual UK payroll returns for non-cash benefits and share reporting
Prepare responses to, participate in discussions with, and maintain the relationship with HMRC in the UK (including BRR+ assessments) and CRA in Canada
Manage the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provisions for the UK and Canada, provide deliverables to the US team, and liaison with outside auditors on statutory financials statements
Liaise with US teams to provide local expertise on multinational planning projects
Team with other finance groups to provide insights regarding tax implications of business changes, new products, and other initiatives
Support of enterprise wide governance processes such as Senior Accounting Officer, etc.
Identify and implement value-added process improvements and maintain process documentation
Provide leadership and develop opportunities to a team of two professionals
What you’ll bring
Qualified tax professional, with experience in a similar leadership role
Knowledge of UK corporation tax, including VAT
Strong analytical, research, and technology skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to efficiently and effectively delegate and manage tight deadlines
Passionate about investing in team development, with the ability to foster an environment of trust, collaboration and belonging
Experience in a regulated environment highly desirable
Knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and HST would be advantageous

Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
