National Account Manager – Currys at Samsung Electronics

Job Descrption

Position Summary

Reporting to Account Director, Samsung Electronics UK, this position will lead multiple buyers and contacts across Currys for Samsung DA business
This role will manage our largest customer Currys on Cooling. It will also be the lead on developing our Vacuum Cleaner business – both categories present a fantastic opportunity to develop different skill sets and different experiences
Key to this role is the day to day management, implementing a sales strategy for help ensure Samsung continues to be the number the No.1 Home Appliance brand in the UK (by market share), whilst driving up profitability and average selling price.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of Currys for our Cooling and SDA business

  • Plan and implement the sales strategy. This will include excellent relationship management, market and product awareness, forecasting and key event planning

  • Working within the matrix of the organisation to formulate a robust and commercially viable business plan for the account

  • Work with the customer to build and maintain the relationships required to implement the strategy and achieve the revenue plan, margin and volume required

  • Work with internal and external partners to efficiently handle stock levels and sell out/ sell in against the promotional plan, identifying and develop new opportunities

  • Handle financial accrual process which are forecasted accurately so that we can balance our P&L

  • Work alongside commercial and trade marketing colleagues to ensure that promotional events are planned in a professional way and ensure that supporting stock and logistics is fully handled as per our CPFR process

  • Contribute and support a JBP with account to ensure potential is recognised, running accurate forecasting & marketing plans to achieve targets and deliver projects

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience of working within a dynamic and fast paced environment, preferably retail or consumer electronics

  • Experience of running and developing a large product range

  • Excellent partner management experience, with a collaborative approach and the capability to form and maintain relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers and colleagues.

  • Strong commercial foresight, with demonstrable ability to match business capability with market opportunities and drive business growth.

  • Consistent track record of formulating and implementing effective business plans

  • Financially astute, with the ability to understand retail and promotional pricing, margin, and accruals

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the confidence to present information to an array of audiences.

  • Excellent organisational, attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Results focused with a target motivated mind set and the capability to increase sales within own account and work as part of a team to drive overall team and company performance.

  • Forward-thinking influencing skills, with the ability to handle sophisticated conversations and negotiations

  • Strategic in approach, defining growth pillars, tactics and capabilities needed to deliver sustainable long-term growth.

  • Ability to develop and identify new opportunities.

  • Willing to work flexibly to accommodate the requirements of the role and business.

  • Previous experience of working with Currys (desirable)

  • Industry knowledge with an understanding of the white goods/ SDA market, products and manufacturing (desirable)

To be a successful candidate in this role you will need to have / need to be:

  • Been able to harness internal and external objectives to achieve the result required

  • High level commercial foresight

  • Excellent forecasting ability – working closely with account counterpart to ensure our plan works as planned

  • Well-developed creative problem solving skills

  • The ability to deliver excellence in collaboration with others

  • Ability to make this role your own with proactive leadership

Success in the first 6 months will look like:

  • Full ownership of account and categories by the end of 6 months

  • Full immersion in and understanding of key Samsung processes and systems

  • Positive relationships built within the key partners and wider DA community

  • Sound understanding of what market dynamics, run rates and what great execution we need to strive for

Success will be measured by:

  • Accuracy of forecasts versus promotional plan

  • Quality and reliability of reporting

  • Meeting monthly revenue and mix targets
