Avantor is looking for a dedicated and innovative Refrigeration & Lab Service Engineer to optimize our efficient laboratory equipment hiring service by supporting us with our customer-oriented service delivery objectives.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our MESM, Chorley, site. You will be responsible for Calibration, Repair & PPM service of refrigeration and related monitoring systems.

The team

Avantor’s MESM Engineering is part of a team of 11 engineering specialists that are trusted in providing mission - critical products and services to customers in the biopharma, healthcare, education & government as well as advanced technologies & applied materials industries.

What we’re looking for

• Education:  A minimum HNC or equivalent professional qualification in Engineering is preferred
• FGAS certified 2079/City and Guilds Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
• Experience: 5 years + of relevant experience of detailed diagnostics, investigation & dismantling equipment and replacing faulty parts.
• Experience of or working to ISO 17025 would be beneficial
• Knowledge of GLP, GMP, GCP and other practices and legislation relevant to the product area (e.g., MHRA, HTA guidelines).
• High-level technical knowledge of refrigeration and safe working practices.
• Technical and problem-solving skills with a thorough understanding of the relevant technology, staying up to date with relevant qualifications needed to carry out the work.
• Effective communication (verbal and written) and ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
• Ability to build relationships with customers with the tact and diplomacy required to deal with customers in stressful situations and provide confident assurance.
• Collaboration tool: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience working with other computer applications (such as databases) with an aptitude to further develop technical skills preferred

How you will thrive and create an impact

Day to day responsibilities:

• Provide first-line technical support to external or internal customers by giving advice via telephone and MS Teams.
• Calibration, Repair & PPM service of refrigeration and related monitoring systems.
• Perform IQ/OQ/PQ, temperature mapping, and calibrations.
• Carry out testing to ensure accurate fault diagnosis.
• Carry out detailed diagnostics, investigation & dismantling equipment when necessary and replacing faulty parts.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal / external customers, delivering exacting standards of customer service.
• Sell service products and generate product leads for the sales team.
• Complete the required number of IHE Jobs / service calls per day as directed by the global service manager.
• Always ensure satisfactory levels of parts stock.
