The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join the team based in Macclesfield. In this role you’ll take ownership of laboratory support with day-to-day responsibilities.

Previous experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, and/or a scientific degree is not a requirement for this role! We’ll consider applicants from other industries as full training is provided.

This role will be a full-time, permanent position. Which underpins the laboratory support function. This role delivers the key lab support services to our customers, which allows them to focus on the science and progress their projects. The role will typically include stock and waste management, equipment support services and standard laboratory tasks aligned to those laboratories. Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 3:00pm

The team

You'll work alongside other four Laboratory Technicians, who are supporting laboratory operations. You will belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.     

What we’re looking for?

• Education: GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent) and an interest in science 
• Experience: 

• Full training will be given, previous experience in pharmaceutical/food manufacturing environment desirable but not essential 
• Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions 
• Computer Literate 
• Process driven and high level of attention to details

• Do you already live in Macclesfield or can easily commute into the city?
• Do you have a driving license and own a vehicle?
• Are you comfortable working in customer-centric environments?
   

How you will thrive and create an impact? 

• Work in a team to organise support for scientists and make sure they have all they need, to perform they daily tasks (consumables, solvents, equipment, PPE)
• Maintain, organise and replenish laboratory inventories
• Laboratory housekeeping – glassware wash and dry, waste management and cleaning activities, decontamination of laboratory equipment
• Act as Point of Contact for customers, actively engaging with them on a regular basis to understand their business requirements
