The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a motivated Laboratory Manager, to join the team based in Cambridge, UK. In this position, you’ll take ownership of operational day to day management of one/ set of laboratories.
This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 - 17:00
The team
You’ll work alongside eight Laboratory Managers, who are supporting operational efficiency in laboratory, are point of contact for scientist’s queries and taking on exciting projects related to equipment, services improvement, and space planning. You’ll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we’re looking for
Education: A bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, preferably Biochemistry, or equivalent laboratory experience
Experience: Previous experience working at a senior laboratory technician level or above, coordinating multi-disciplinary laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to partner with other teams and suppliers and deliver results in a matrix environment
Managing multiple internal and external partners/stakeholders
Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment
Knowledge of GxP regulations, audit requirements and CAPAs
Exposure to Microsoft Office Package and SAP
How you will thrive and create an impact
Operational management of one or more laboratories, providing a 'single point of contact' for the scientists on a variety of subjects - materials flow, facilities maintenance, equipment availability and process optimisation activities
Ensuring the laboratory maintains its operational efficiency by liaising with facilities maintenance suppliers, planning maintenance schedules with minimal impact to daily operations
Leading on continuous improvement projects relating to equipment, policy, and people processes - striving for smooth and efficient ways of working
Leading on processes to investigate deviations from SLA's by root cause analysis and reporting findings accurately
Supporting the overall health and safety compliance strategy, PPE compliance, participating in service audits and supporting with COSH and risk assessment documentation
