Senior Technical Product Manager- FTC
Drives complex technical projects requiring coordination across teams & organizations. To establish strategy & direction of execution within a program.
*Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract of 12 months
What you'll do:
Stays current on industry trends and serves as an expert on the software development lifecycle and Agile engineering practices, coaching others when needed
Recommends and plans for application of Agile methodologies vs. traditional methodologies, based on comparison of various approaches to achieve the most effective development outcome
Identifies appropriate Agile engineering practices (e.g., Extreme Programming techniques such as pair programming and test-driven development) and coaches others in applying in software development projects
Provides Agile coaching/support for multiple workstreams
Leads and mentors others in Agile ceremonies
Participates in Agile sprint planning with Product and Engineer leaders
Integrates timelines and milestones across projects, identifying areas of synergy or dependency
Determines actual or potential gaps in resourcing for projects and recommends strategies to mitigate
Evaluates the progress of projects and makes adjustments (e.g., to task order or timeline) to keep the project on track
Defines team governance and control
Builds the basic structure of a program (possibly from scratch) that may include: Business case, prioritization alignment, team engagement, identifying a sponsor, identifying stakeholders, 'sales' pitch to leadership, budget, etc
Defines and implements processes to improve team execution and delivery
Leads proactive identification and mitigation of issues and risks. Leverages experience to anticipate risks in advance of impacts
Creates, tracks and reports on project budget. Drive budget approval process
Leads increasingly adaptive, ambiguous programs or highly complex technical projects
Keeps relevant stakeholders informed of progress toward or changes to task timing that impacts the project schedule
Facilitates collaboration with different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop effective solutions to issues
Strives for optimum organizational efficiency by applying systems thinking across boundaries and making recommendations about policies/ processes
Takes a whole systems approach to analyze issues and implements holistic solutions by ensuring that linkages between structure, people, process and technology are made
Partners with the business to understand and ensure connection to overarching strategy and program and ensures prioritization is aligned with strategy
Evaluates existing patterns in and across systems to identify & implement improvements
Anticipates and recognizes bottlenecks in work processes between teams and makes suggestions for ongoing improvement
Leads implementation teams and ensures the successful execution of new ideas or approaches
Coordinates with team to define the measures of success for process improvements
Develops product phase-out planning in line with the product roadmap. Determines different phase milestones and priorities
Understands and can manage and deliver any individual part of the PDL
Establishes working relationships with stakeholders and builds rapport to become a trusted advisor
Identifies strategic issues and raises questions to help customers explore and understand their wider business challenges in the context of the project/program
Utilizes thorough understanding of current business environment & objectives in order to guide program delivery and outcomes
Assists leaders or more senior team members in leveraging knowledge of current business environment & objectives to guide program delivery and outcomes
Breaks down complex information (e.g., legal, operational risk, and regulatory data) and impact to the business into understandable terminology and actionable concepts
Uses technical knowledge and expertise to generate comprehendible, broadly-applicable communications based on new and non-typical data
Designs differentiated technical communications (content focus, style, presentation, etc.) for various internal and external audiences based on an understanding of their differing levels of familiarity with technical language
Uses written and verbal communication skills effectively to confidently convey technical and business concepts to senior management and some executive audiences
Exhibits storytelling and persuasive influencing techniques that build trust with team and partners and establish long-term relationships
Proactively contributes to cross team collaboration and leads alignment of work with broader initiatives tailoring messaging to audience and filters relevant communication
Guides functional peers and partners on how to use standard frameworks and methodologies
Contributes to events (for example workshops) to help others develop functional knowledge and acumen, both within and across teams
Demonstrates a critical understanding of business processes and challenges to recommend and develop solutions to meet unique business needs and achieve objectives
