Job Title: Senior NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer.
Location: Glenrothes (On-Site) 37 hours across Monday to Thursday.
Summary of Role:
The Senior NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer role will be focused on the execution of new product introductions on CCA (Circuit Card Assembly) and Electro-Mechanical Unit level assemblies. With a strong technical background in SMT and CCA assembly processes, the NPI Engineer will ensure the successful introduction of new products into Raytheon UK Manufacturing through the application of robust manufacturing principles and processes.
Role will be program-focused as the key technical support for Customer and Internal Program Team. It will cover a wide range of CCAs and Electro-Mechanical Assemblies on products in diverse fields such as Power Products, Space Grade Manufacturing, Weapons and Sensors, Air Traffic Management Systems and Control Actuation Systems (CAS).
Main Duties:
Focus on SMT and CCA build processes, and Unit Level assembly
Technical and Manufacturing Eng. lead on NPI Builds, with ownership for the execution to agreed schedule and cost, and to required Quality standards and Manufacturing best practices
Engagement at all stages of the NPI process; from Bid and Proposal through execution of NPI Builds as a precursor to product release into full rate production.
Active participation in DFM and “manufacturability” analyses and reporting
Use manufacturing data to identify and address issues – proactively
Use data to drive Systemic Root Cause and Corrective Action.
Identify, expedite and / or escalate any quality or performance issues
Identify skills training or development requirements and escalate through management
Report & maintain Manufacturing Engineering metrics, track performance against Team KPI and Individual Goals & Objectives
Ensure metrics are used / responded to in order to optimize processes
Support the Program Cells and the rest of the Engineering community when required
Active Team Member – participate in team activities with Integrated Program Team, Engineering groups and other cross-functional teams
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Qualified to minimum HND level in Manufacturing / Production Engineering or a related Engineering discipline
High performance and innovative individual who is a self-starter ready to challenge the Status Quo, and drive improvement using Best in Class and World Class Manufacturing principles
Strong knowledge of SMT and CCA manufacturing processes over a wide range of technologies, processes and production platforms
Wide-ranging understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical product design and operation
Analytical engineer who can process data efficiently to provide solutions to problems and communicate the outcomes at all levels
Good team player who takes ownership of problems and participates fully in team activities
Can demonstrate contribution to specific improvements in Production Programs’ effectiveness efficiency and optimization
Understands, and promotes the principles and benefits of Design for Excellence (DfX)
Can lead / participate in process FMEA development, design review and risk mitigation processes
Understands the principles of 6 Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
Proven technical presentation and communication skills to all levels
