Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager ASDA

Introduction to Role

Vanderlande has a large site-based Service team at the ASDA Distribution Centre, Warrington.  The DC has a large, automated materials handling system and runs 24/7 to support a network of stores across the UK.  The site team provides 24/7 support to the operation to ensure high system availability and the fulfilment of store orders. As a Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager, your prominent focus is to be the local ambassador of Vanderlande

Your Role/Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the MHS, customer satisfaction, contract management, continuous improvement, people, reporting and finance. 

You will manage and improve customer relations and liaise directly with the customer. You will identify sales and improvement opportunities and will be responsible for reporting on an internal and external basis.

You will lead and motivate the team to ensure the smooth running of the department and business. There will be responsibility for continuous improvement of system performance and ways of working as well as learning continuously and developing professional potential and ability.

You will support a safe working environment through championing and encouragement of a safety-first culture. You will ensure the team’s activities are carried out in accordance with Vanderlande’s HSEQ Management System.

Role Qualification and Skills

• Proven background in the Service & Maintenance of complex automated plant & equipment
• An assertive individual with strong man-management and customer liaison skills
• Analytical ability to structure and lead the resolution of system-related problems
• An excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Excellent oral, written and social communication skills
• Competent user of MS Office applications, able to use Excel to an advanced level
• Flexibility to undertake ad-hoc UK & European travel as required
• Ability to maintain service levels and manage customer relations onsite and within the wider business
• A strong team player and able to build excellent rapport with customers
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Problem-solving
• Drive to win, result and goal oriented with a hands-on mentality

Your profile

For this position, we require:

• Preferred knowledge of the automation market and customer operations
• Previous experience in managing a residential engineering team
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Educated to Degree level or relevant Industry Experience
