We occasionally hire Junior Software Developers in a part-time capacity in each of the below areas:

• Web Applications – this team develops and manages the cspire.com website and all its sub-properties. The team is at the forefront of C Spire’s digital transformation to make the website the primary channel for all sales, support, and self-service activities.
• Mobile Applications – this team develops and manages our mobile apps that help thousands of customers manage their accounts and get access to healthcare. These iOS and Android applications are developed using native languages such as Swift, Java, Kotlin, and Objective-C.
• Middleware & Backend System Applications – these teams develop and maintain core software that runs the C Spire business. Development is in Java and Scala, implemented as memory-resident microservices handling billions of API calls per year.
• Data Engineering (database operations) – this team designs and maintains the Oracle and SQL Server database systems that house application data. This team also designs and maintains the data warehouse and big data environments for business reporting and analytics. (Managing the data lifecycle from conception to consumption).

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing support to the designated department.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Perform and complete assignments given by Manager in assigned department.
• Prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Communicate in written and oral formats both inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally.
• Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
• Interact with other interns in the summer internship program.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED
  • Must be actively enrolled and in good standing in an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field of study.
  • Proven ability to write and / or debug code in an object oriented programming language e.g. Java, Swift, Python, Scala, et-.
  • Must be willing and able to work between 10-20 hours per week, on-site from our office on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Interns must be able to adapt and perform in a rapidly changing work environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing the computer screen.
