The team “Civil & Electrical Engineering” as part of the “Wind Turbine, Quality, Civil & Electrical Engineering” Department is looking for an experienced Electrical Expert to drive optimization of electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) incl. components (e.g. HV/MV transformer, switchgear, cable) and design (incl. GCC) on project and portfolio level for wind, solar and storage projects. Activities range from (a) optimizing design guidelines, standards and specifications over (b) strategic assessments and evaluations to (c) support of actual projects. The role holder will provide technical expertise as a recognized authority for the whole lifetime of projects for complex and business relevant engineering.
Your tasks:
Operational support:
Provide 2nd / 3rd level support to special wind, solar and storage projects (i.e. with unique technical challenges) regarding the eBoP, e.g. act as technical advisor and expert support, RCA, during all value chain steps
Provide central support for operational assets
Support the compliance with regional electrical standards and norms
Provide technical expertise on main protection components, PQ skills and control logic
Assessment and evaluation:
Coordinate and manage component prequalification of electrical components (e.g. eBoP, turbine, PV, …). This includes defining assessment criteria, analyzing/challenging supplier input and providing critical review of performance, chances/risks …
Actively participate in technical due diligence for partnering projects (e.g. M&A).
Support cross-regional and framework tenders incl. the negotiation and procurement process for the eBoP aspect of the project
Optimization:
Identify technical optimization opportunities related to eBoP (components, system level and processes); initiate and execute according assessments and projects. Assess the impact on a RES asset, e.g. LCOE, risks, value, implementation effort. Mature the technical optimization measures and facilitate the their business role out.
Drive standardization and modularization and develop “pre-designs” where highly synergetic across regions or projects.
Adjust and improve internal guidelines, standards and specifications to reflect and enable component and system optimization measures.
Your profile:
University degree in relevant electrical engineering discipline or equivalent
Proven fault finding and route cause analysis skills
Familiarity in the interrogation of protection relays, events recorders and power quality monitors.
Preferably, asset management, including operation strategies and design improvements
Good understanding of commercial implications of engineering decisions and track record in adding business value through applying own technical capability.
Strong communication & stakeholder management skills with ability to effectively communicate with Management and negotiate with external stakeholders.
Excellent teamworking ability and integrative skills
Social competence, high level of engagement and intercultural mind set
High standard of ethical behavior to uphold RWE Renewables’ reputation and commitment to core values and code of conduct
