Engineering Maintenance Lead at Associated British Ports

Due to internal development we're currently looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Maintenance Lead to work at our Port Of Immingham. You'll be responsible for supervising maintenance resources to ensure assets are maintained and in compliant working order. As the largest UK Port by Tonnage handling 46 million tonnes of cargo every year, we deal with a wide range of customers and products at Immingham which includes containers, agribulks, building products and rail freight. You'll be an experienced maintenance engineer with some supervisory exposure with either a Mechanical or Electrical bias but should be comfortable understanding both aspects. Some experience of PLCs or crane maintenance is essential.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the ongoing management, development and training of team members in line with ABP Values. To undertake appraisals and to ensure team members have sufficient knowledge, through use of Skills Matrix, to be able to operate independently on a day-to-day basis.
  • Direct day-to-day supervision of the engineering maintenance team and contractors ensuring work practices are observed, recorded and actioned.
  • Liaise with the Operations, Marine and Estates Departments and external Contractors as required in order to co-ordinate and prioritise maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all necessary ‘Safe Systems of Work’ and ‘Risk Assessments’ are prepared, available and issued to the maintenance staff, ensuring toolbox talks and daily safety briefings are undertaken.
  • All works are to be planned in accordance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation together with company policies and procedures. Issue of safety documentation to include permits, permissions and isolation certificates in line with the permissions detailed within the respective authorisation cards.
  • Maintain the ‘preventative maintenance’ programme within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required in order that information may be both entered and retrieved, including the entering/creation of work orders for unplanned works.
  • Completion of the work planning sheet for feedback into the Daily/Weekly maintenance plan Monitor budgets assigned to Engineering Maintenance works with the Engineering Managers. Obtain best value for ABP when either awarding external works or purchasing plant, equipment and or materials.
  • Monitor and progress both fault report work and statutory inspections ensuring works are undertaken and completed as required. Attend break down situations during both normal hours and out of hours in order to convey specific knowledge and give guidance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) and experience associated with mechanical or Electrical engineering in heavy industry, preferably with port experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Budgetary awareness
  • Safety awareness to include CDM Regulations
  • Computer skills
  • CMMS experience (Ideally Mainsaver)
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Experience of maintaining PLC systems
  • Experience of maintaining crane systems

The role is working Mon - Fri, 07:30 - 16:00, with an on-call requirement 1 weekend in 8. The closing date for applications is Monday 1st April.
