We are looking for an experienced book publicist for a 12-month contract to cover a period of parental leave. Joining a team of 10, you will take responsibility for a blend of established and debut authors.

You will get to work with some of the most creative publishing colleagues in the business in a friendly and inclusive environment. You will be involved in every stage of the publishing process from early acquisitions meetings to devising and executing campaign plans and much more.

You can expect to:

  • Independently create, plan and drive strategic media and events campaigns for major titles including brand fiction,

  • Play a key role in the acquisition of new books, providing PR feedback and contributing to and attending pitches to acquire new talent,

  • Contribute to the company’s strategic priorities and work closely with its editorial team,

  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, including sales and marketing, editorial, rights and international colleagues, and

  • Maintain and develop excellent relationships with high-profile and influential stakeholders, such as authors, agents, journalists and global publishing partners.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have a proven track record of independently producing standout book publicity campaigns in a publishing environment.  With experience of creating and delivering successful strategic media campaigns that connect with consumers, you will be confident writing engaging press materials, organising large scale events, and will be a high-level networker with the media.

You’ll also:

  • Have excellent communication skills and be confident pitching and presenting internally and externally,

  • Be well networked with media contacts and be knowledgeable and curious about all forms of media and what turns the dial,

  • Be highly organised with excellent time management to juggle concurrent campaigns with different lead times,

  • Demonstrate analytical ability and financial awareness for your campaigns, and

  • Think in innovative and creative ways to create buzz behind our book, always with your eye on the activity that truly drives book sales.

Application Instructions

If this sounds like you, apply with a CV and cover letter by Wednesday 28th February.   Interviews will commence shortly after, at our offices in Pimlico.

As part of your cover letter, we’d like you to tell us about a recent book publicity campaign that you were impressed by and why (within 200 words).
