This role can be based in any of the following offices: Bristol, Birmingham, London, Glasgow

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide specialist application operational support for at least 2 platforms/applications, ensuring 24/7 support availability.
  • Drive service availability, performance, and data integrity across your platforms/applications.
  • Support and implement the strategy in respect of the Mobile Operations unit, and the related platform specific roadmaps and project, acting as a technical lead and ambassador for the team.
  • Work effectively with related stakeholders to deploy new systems, manage upgrades, and implement configuration changes while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a technical lead during high-impact incidents, both during regular hours and after hours, including post incident reviews and service improvement plans
  • Support the production, maintenance, and improvement of the system/platform management documentation.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching and technical guidance within the team, including supporting the team manager in driving up the overall team capability.
  • Collaborate with third parties, design teams, and service management to ensure effective service delivery and adherence to standards.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and key stakeholders whilst also ensuring timely resolution of escalated issues.
  • Uphold the Service Management Framework, meeting Home Office and ESN requirements.
  • Drive and support application security and compliance, aligning with internal and external regulations and standards and collaborating closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure that the supported applications are safeguarded against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, ensuring the maintenance and renewal of agreed technical qualifications and certifications relevant to the role.
  • Engage with training initiatives, workshops, and seminars to stay updated with the latest advancements in IMS and related technologies.
  • Ensure up-to-date security clearance in accordance with organisational requirements, ensuring access to sensitive information and systems integral to the role.

You'll have the following skills and experience

  • Deep experience supporting Mobile Core Networks and managing operational incidents within a 24/7 real time service environment
  • Expertise in IMS technologies, especially Virtual IMS architecture
  • Proficiency with network virtualization technologies i.e. SDN/NFV, e.g. NSX
  • Strong knowledge of security practices, vulnerabilities, and hardening strategies.
  • Knowledge of Core network systems like IMS, VoLTE, E// CS Core, signalling systems (DSR, SSR, and Eagle ISTP), and IP transport systems.
  • Proficient in SIP protocol analysis and troubleshooting, enabling swift resolution of incidents related to voice and multimedia sessions in the IMS environment
  • Effective use of reporting systems, creation of KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting tools and methods specific to IMS, including NetScout for tracing and Unix scripting, with a solid grasp on Excel features.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, vendors and customers, both for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring the best interests of the organisation and service quality are prioritised
  • Process strong analytical abilities to diagnose complex issues and apply systematic decision-making processes to derive solutions and take appropriate action
  • Demonstrated aptitude for planning and  delivering high-quality services, balancing customer needs with business and platform requirements.
  • Adaptability and keenness to learn in a rapidly evolving technological landscape
  • Possess understanding of traditional IMS, its virtualised instances, and the shift to cloud-based architectures, while also being conversant with the evolving signalling landscape in 5G Service Based Architecture (SBA) where required
  • Proven extensive operational experience in planning, deploying and supporting IMS related technologies across multiple vendors
  • Proven ability to provide coaching and knowledge sharing to others to uplift the capability of the team
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to the successful delivery of multi-stakeholder large-scale projects, ensuring technical requirements and considerations are appropriately represented.
