Working style: 3 days office, 2 days anywhere

 

 

 

Why this job matters

 

We are looking for a Platform manager who will be joining our team that supports BT’s Broadband Authentication platforms. Our BB authentication platforms play a critical role to enable and deliver Broadband services to ~10 million Broadband customers. 
 

As a Platform Manager, you will be responsible for the in-life management and availability of Broadband Authentication platforms and applications hosted across Private and Public cloud environments. Covering the full life cycle, including decisions on design, delivery, and operations to achieve the best customer experience, platform performance and business improvements, cost effectively and securely. 

 

In addition, you will play a key role as the Product Owner for Broadband Authentication Platforms supporting the Tribe Product Owner with priority management and decision making for the Broadband ISP Tribe.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Owns the platform evolution plan with support from the technical design authority and software engineer leads. Ensuring the Authentication platforms proactively remediate technical debt, upgrade to the latest software versions, host on BT's strategic cloud platforms and explore opportunities to introduce new technology to improve the applications and services delivered. 
  • Platform Health & Performance - identifying gaps and issues with our performance and developing actions to address.  
  • Platform Security – Ensure we are TSA compliant, and all security vulnerabilities are tracked and remediated with the agreed SLAs. 
  • Manage the work stack and priorities with associated resource management in a product owner role, supporting and collaborating with the wider BB ISP Tribe Product Owner. 
  • Own the platform front door & Interpret customer and stakeholder requests, tailoring your conversations according to their needs, and effectively communicating these needs to other internal teams as necessary.
  • Management of the external suppliers and vendors involved in the Broadband Authentication platforms.
  • Liaising with the Operational & Service Management teams on Network Incident investigations and other performance issues, ensuring in-depth failure analysis, ensuring quality solutions or corrective actions are identified.  Leadership of platform aspects of “Post Incident Reviews” to a conclusion. 
  • Owns the platform risk register ensuring relevant risks are exposed to the correct level of management for visibility or senior acceptance and remediation plans are in place where applicable.

Mandatory

 

  • Experience of managing or overseeing the in-life operation of critical services, Networks, or IT Applications. 
  • You have a strong passion for innovative technology and an unwavering commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements. You actively collaborate with diverse business areas and organizations to foster a comprehensive understanding of emerging technologies and their practical applications.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the team at all levels of the organization. 
  • Understanding of drivers and measurement of customer experience; experience in driving improvement in customer experience. 
  • Commercial savviness; budgeting, demand management and vendor management and negotiation. 
  • Excellent communication & influencing and problem solving skills.

 

Nice to have: 

 

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and experience with Incident, change and problem management. 
  • Experience of project management and/or solution architecture
  • Experience in managing agile product development
  • Understanding of host applications and services in Private an Public Cloud environments
  • Product and service knowledge - Broad understanding of Broadband Platforms & Services.
