Data Analyst - Workforce Planning at BT Group

Job Descrption

Full time, 3 days a week together out of either our Bristol or Birmingham Digital Hub (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

Within Digital, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) team plays a critical role in driving the Digital transformation: we set and implement the overall BT Digital strategy and plans and we are the engine room driving the outcomes required for our customers.  We work across multiple customer units (e.g., Consumer, Enterprise, Global divisions) covering needed updates to products, customer journeys, platforms, 3rd parties, strategic partners, IT architecture and innovation.  

 

What you’ll be doing: 

You’ll be contributing to the build of a new function that models demand and supply of skills and resource to plan for BT Digital to have the right skills when and where it needs them. 

You’ll source, extract, validate, integrate, organise and analyse data, from multiple sources, to enable the functions goals – including input to strategic workforce plans, stakeholder dashboards, insight for business decisions, and reporting on key metrics. 

You’ll design, build and iterate reports and dashboards that intuitively visualise actionable data and insight for stakeholders, and be responsible for their timely and accurate maintenance. 

You’ll work with teams across BT on use cases for the data, helping extract value, and innovating new ways of managing and understanding our data so that we continually improve workforce planning across Digital. 

You’ll drive continuous improvement by automating data collection/production, taking a user-centred approach to uplifting the value of self-serve capabilities, and maintaining documentation and version control on existing data models and reports. 

 

What you’ll need:  

  • Experience in Data Analysis – Coding skills relevant to data manipulation.  Confident in using complex data to investigate hypotheses, uncover trends and present findings in a compelling way. 
  • Experience in stakeholder management & collaboration – comfortable building productive stakeholder relationships 
  • Experience working with ambiguity – delivering in a transformation environment where problems are known but solutions/deliverables are unclear 
  • Dataset creation – comfortable acquiring, cleaning and organising data from various sources. 
  • Data visualisation – able to build dashboards that present data visually and add business value.  Experience with building dashboards in Qlik strong preference.   
  • Programming/scripting – ability to automate data collection and integration. 
  • Excel proficiency is a must 
  • Experience working with workforce planning data and platforms would be an advantage.
