We are seeking a passionate senior engineer, who’s role is critical to support and introduce a wide range of platforms and end-to-end solutions across BT’s networks. You will lead your team during complex or major incidents, encourage the progression of enhanced ways of working and support them through change.  
 

This role can be based in Birmingham, Manchester, London or Ipswich

What you’ll be doing

 

•    Technical Acumen: Demonstrate proficiency in complex technical infrastructure, including IP routing and switching with expertise in Nokia, Cisco, and Juniper, transmission platforms like Huawei and Cienna, voice and mobile transport networks, and virtualized cloud computing for Global and BT group ISP platforms (BT, EE & Plusnet). 
•    Growth and Development: Embrace opportunities to stay at the forefront of emerging technology trends, such as network cloud, AI, virtualization, and advanced optical technologies, contributing to ongoing innovation and development within the team and organisation. 
•    Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence by actively participating in strategy-setting sessions, aligning project plans and objectives with the organization's strategy and values, and fostering the professional Services culture and enhancing our personal brand. 
•    Incident Management and Resolution: Lead the team in conducting in-depth reviews of data and issues to quickly identify root causes, recommend short and long-term solutions to complex problems, and follow through to ensure effective problem resolution, particularly during out-of-hours changes and callouts.  
These points provide a detailed perspective on the critical role you'll play within BT's Professional Services team and the diverse technological landscape you'll be a part of. 

 

You will champion and build effective working relationships, to deliver business outcomes, adding value throughout. We rely on our reputation as highly technical faculty that provides support and consultation across the business. As a leader you should enhance the brand of the team and influence those around you to be accountable and perform at their best.


•    Coordinating a diverse team to deliver integration and problem management on time, within budget, and meeting quality targets. 
•    Monitoring daily activities to ensure all objectives are achieved, addressing issues as they arise. 
•    Providing expertise within your area and share knowledge with your team to encourage self-development and knowledge sharing. 
•    Interacting with customers and senior internal stakeholders, gathering insights and feedback to inform integration and requirements

 

Please note, this role involves being on 24/7 call out.
 

You'll have the following skills and experience

 

•    Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse teams effectively. 
•    Proficiency in monitoring and promptly resolving issues. 
•    Expertise sharing and knowledge development. 
•    Adept interaction with customers and internal stakeholders. 
•    Deep understanding of operational support across platform domains. 
•    Experience with out-of-hours changes and callouts. 
•    Proven experience in leading highly technical teams. 
•    Successful history of introducing complex solutions into live environments. 
•    Experience in managing major and serious incidents. 
•    Ability to conduct in-depth reviews and recommend solutions. 
•    Understanding of software production for automation and visualization within live networks. 
•    This role necessitates both technical proficiency and effective leadership and problem-solving skills.
