We are looking for a delivery manager to join a team who will:

  • Be responsible for delivery of new products and services via new Software & Network technology. 
  • Ensure the solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and achieved.
  • Oversee the demand, sprint planning, resource, billing and finances.

You will be responsible to deliver projects in a dynamic team and evolving service portfolio. 

     
Why this role matters     
This role calls on a hybrid of skills: mainly technical delivery manager, sometimes programme manager, ideally Agile Product Owner too. The role is to manage the demand across the team, working in an agile way. To manage projects efficiently, applying software-thinking (e.g., abstraction, reuse), driving for the best costs & timescales to realise the biggest benefits. The TDM needs to have a holistic view of each project’s deliverables, agile-squads, stakeholders & financials. 
This is an exciting area with many challenges, as the technology and tools are ever changing. Project managers shape, scope and drive deliveries.  The team uses agile-scrum approach for solution designs, development and test. The candidate needs to be pro-active, flexible and have a positive attitude, and will be given peer & line support, coaching and weekly opportunities to learn.

The team consists of Technical Delivery Managers/Agile Product Owners focusing on the delivery of products for Network Operators. This work is transformational, and the team is driving new behaviours and cultures which support Networks strategy of transforming our capabilities onto the new IT software stack for a Network & Organisation of the Future.

     

What you'll be doing

  • You will be accountable for the delivery of technical solutions. This will involve working with market-facing teams, solution & network designers, development & test teams, operations and other stakeholders. 
  • You will also drive Network release activities, coordinating plans across squads to deliver code through technical releases to support quarterly Business Goals ensuring all dependencies are understood and tracked within a release plan.

 

The role will provide opportunities to work on a wide variety of technologies in support of Enterprise and Technology and in new emerging technologies and markets.     
     As a Technical Delivery/Programme manager, you will be responsible to deliver in an agile way and: 

  • Oversee the demand, sprint planning, resource, and finances for the team and delivering projects.  
  • Own and deliver projects from design through to live implementation and/or withdrawal.
  • Design and drive improved working process for efficient live deployment. 
  • Own the network delivery of portfolio/release from the concept to market. 
  • Deliver requirements by ensuring production of robust and achievable design and delivery plans. 
  • Manage delivery change control at work stream / network delivery level and determine on acceptance or rejection of changes to an agreed scope. 
  • Ensuring the scope of delivery is understood, including OSS where necessary, that the network solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achievable.
  • Ensuring that all impacted teams understand, engage and commit to deliver plans. 
  • Identify pre-requisites to network deliveries and ensure that they are delivered. 
  • Ensuring that platforms/components can commit to delivery commitments. 
  • Meeting committed finance figures for the network deliveries. 
  • Identify when network deliveries are at risk and take corrective action to resolve and risk management for network deliveries.
  • Manage the finances across the Programme and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Track and drive deliverables using JIRA
  • Working with consuming stakeholders to align releases across development & delivery environments from dev, test, through to Live Production for the train of releases.
  • Manage inter squad dependencies and drive issue resolution including impediment escalations where appropriate; set and drive achievement against key performance metrics.

  • Track record of working with stakeholders across multiple teams, designers, and platforms to ensure the proposed solution is affordable, deliverable and delivers the required business outcomes.
  • Project management skills to deliver business benefit in a timely way by focusing on must do capability and delivering effective end to end solutions.
  • Expertise in complex and intricate network design delivery and authority.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving involving cost/time trade-offs. 
  • Track-record of leading matrix/task teams through change and develop a challenging and supportive team culture.
  • Risk Management: active management through applying appropriate risk management strategies for both delivery and business risks.
  • Proven track record of delivery of multiple technically challenging solutions into in life.
  • Understanding and experience of managing budgets and how to ensure supporting teams are funded.
  •
