Location
This is based at our Birmingham office. We have a hybrid working model of 3 days together and 2 days wherever.
Why this job matters
You will join an existing Application Support team and look after a number of production security platforms. You will ensure they operate as designed; that they are managed in accordance to BT’s standard IT Infrastructure management and Security frameworks; and deal with customer and end user queries. These platforms underpin key identity and access management security controls and you will play a key role in keeping BT secure and ensuring BT meets its Audit and Security Compliance commitments.
What you’ll be doing
Undertake platform operations management tasks (IT infrastructure management, Application S/W maintenance and upgrades, dealing with incidents, implementing platform changes)
Handle customer requests and queries in a professional and timely manner, in accordance to the platform SLAs and having high regard at all times for the quality of service being provided.
Investigate and coordinate the resolution of user issues, technical issues related to the platform itself, or issues related to services provided by the supported platforms. Liaise with Application and Platform 2nd/ 3rd Line support groups and engineers, engage vendor support as and when needed, escalate to 3rd Line support as necessary and own the successful resolution of the reported issue.
Onboard new users, systems and accounts onto the existing security platforms. Develop/modify existing scripts/plugins to enable the platforms to manage new types of accounts and automate existing platform administration tasks towards a zero touch Ops Model
Assist in audits and evidence provisioning. Work with internal and external Auditors to analyse and validate regular audits.
Support and contribute to the delivery of strategies, plans and budgets for the supported security platforms.
Monitor, maintain and improve the quality and integrity of the organisation's security information processes and systems.
Participate in an on-call rota (with on-call allowance).
Your Experience
Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role
Experience installing and configuring computer systems and applications, ideally for a large company
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
Your Skills
Solid MS Windows Server Skills
Basic Unix Skills
Basic knowledge of networking principles/ protocols
Identity and Access Controls – key concepts
Scripting/programming skills is hugely beneficial
Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco or similar technologies is a plus but not essential
