This role is based at our Birmingham Snowhill office. We have a hybrid working model which is 3 days together, 2 days wherever.

As a lead software engineer, you will be hands-on while supporting other engineers in building brilliant customer journeys in our digital voice and collaboration squad.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and maintain applications using cloud, front-end and back-end technologies
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define project requirements and translate them into functional applications
• Optimise application performance and ensure responsiveness for customers
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and industry standards
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Troubleshoot and debug issues, and propose solutions to improve application performance and customer experience
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in cloud, front-end and back-end technologies, and actively expand knowledge in these areas
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality and innovative applications
• Lead, mentor and coach software engineers, ensuring high quality standards of code, ways of working and delivery

Skills and Experience

You'll need to have experience with

• AWS cloud services
• Node JS / Express JS
• React JS / TypeScript / JavaScript
• REST and GraphQL API development
• Unit and Integration testing
• Performance optimisation
• Analytics and observability, e.g, dynatrace
• Building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
• Experience of supporting and troubleshooting live customer applications
• Focus on quality, automation, and metrics
• Knowledge of front-end and back-end architecture and patterns
• Have led or mentored more junior software engineers whilst being in a senior or lead position

• Authentication (JWT, OAuth2, SSO etc)
• Integrating with APIGEE / Vlocity
