Energy Data and Forecasting Specialist at BT Group

Why this role matters

The purpose of the role is to deliver excellence in energy data management and drive innovation in BT’s energy analytics capability.

The role holder will be responsible for delivering consistency in our energy data (one truth reporting), volume forecasting (electricity, gas, oil & water) and continuous improvement of data management tools and techniques.

The key challenge is to utilise energy related data in the most effective and intelligent way to optimise energy efficiency and minimise cost, to break down energy consumption by region, area, platform, product, in order to model future energy consumption and peak demands.

What you'll be doing

  • Forecast BT Group’s energy consumption down to individual technology level to build the energy volume budget
  • Collate and report energy position against budget to the business
  • Lead on the collection, collation, analysis and presentation for the annual sustainability report, the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and other compliance reporting.
  • Operate the Navitas system to enable monthly energy reporting at a technology level.
  • Identify data quality issues and resolve with data providers and suppliers.
  • Drive the development of BT Group’s energy and carbon consumption and forecasting models for different areas and regions, allocation of energy to products and services.
  • Lead on compliance reporting and audit for both internal and external assessment.
  • Provide bespoke data reporting and analysis to support broader discussions at Board Level which help inform key decision making.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Energy Industry
  • Outstanding analytical and data management skills
  • A good understanding of energy forecasting methodologies
  • Strong process and business improvement skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong stakeholder and influencing skills
  • Advanced data system expertise (PL/SQL, VB/A, R, Excel expert)
