Location

This role will be primarily remote working due to the sensitive nature of the work. However you will be expected to travel when needed - This can include overseas travel.

Why this job matters

The Investigations Specialist executes a range of workstreams in delivering digital and non-digital response engagements investigating incidents and threat events detected across the BT Group, delivering high quality reporting on pertinent evidence for regulatory, civil and misconduct investigations affecting the BT Group, customers and the wider ecosystem.

The role holder will play a critical part in this by enabling this trust through the protection of  BT’s finances and reputation, ensuring that investigations into allegations of serious criminal offences, behavioural, misconduct and abuse of process are conducted ethically, professionally, impartially, proportionately and expeditiously in line with criminal, regulatory and organisational policies and processes, in a people centred and consistent approach, to the highest standards.

What you’ll be doing

  • Conduct sensitive and confidential investigations into allegations of serious conduct, policy breaches, regulatory and criminal wrongdoing across BT Group
  • Conduct ethical, impartial, people centred investigations professionally, and expediently
  • Ensure regulatory, policy and legislative investigative compliance in all investigative activities 
  • Ensure to maintain a high level of investigative reputation and credibility internally and externally through work and behaviours demonstrated 
  • Conduct interviews across all relevant persons linked to investigations to the highest standards
  • Utilise E Discovery tooling 
  • Preparation and delivery of investigation plans, to include all critical component aspects of best practice investigation methodologies 
  • Managing senior stakeholders and associated updates in an informative, concise and detailed format verbally and written 
  • Produce investigation output reports to include recommendations to the highest standards 
  • Making critical risk and investigative decisions with rationale, escalating when appropriate 
  • Ensure the safeguarding of people and investigative integrity
  • Ensure excellent stakeholder and partnership management internally and externally
  • LEA and criminal justice system engagement including handling and disclosure of evidence and intelligence and court attendance when required
     

The skills you'll need

  • Qualified to Investigator PIP2 or equivalent, or relevant degree
  • CFE/CAMS or equivalent credential, or a willingness to achieve upon joining
  • Expert knowledge of legislation and investigative best practice specifically relating to bribery & corruption, fraud, theft, money laundering and Conflicts of Interest 
  • Direct experience and high level of capability of source handling or whistleblowing engagement
  • A high level of awareness around safeguarding of people, their welfare and an ability to apply a people centric approach to all aspects of investigations
  • Highly effective in designing and managing end to end serious and complex investigation plans
  • Highly capable and experienced in stakeholder management to a senior level 
  • Ability to breakdown and translate complex information at pace
  • Highly experienced investigative interviewer able to operate with limited supervision to best practice standards across applicable complex investigation landscape
  • Willingness to undertake and pass SC vetting
  • Significant experience and expertise as an investigator in the corporate / LEA community.
  • Proven history as a highly competent practitioner with limited supervision in relevant criminal and civil legislative investigative frameworks 
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels across the business 
  • Highly capable in handling, managing and disclosing of material relevant relating to internal and external investigations / prosecutions / hearings. 
  • Highly experienced investigative interviewer 
  • Production of written and verbal reports to the highest standards
  • Understands and adheres to the requirements of the UK Data Protection Act 2018
