WHAT TO EXPECT

As part of the Electrification Technologies Team, reporting directly to the Senior MP&L Manager, you’ll lead the development and execution of all logistics systems and processes for Material, Planning and Logistics (MP&L). You’ll be a Leader within a brand new rapidly growing electrification technologies function which will benefit from future increased investments.

You’ll manage complex Plant relationships and lead the implementation of benchmark logistics systems and operational improvements across manufacturing and logistics related activities. This includes managing the outsourced logistics department’s operational teams.

You’ll oversee the delivering of initiatives throughout your business area, driving a strategic approach to ensure robust processes are embedded within the organisation. As the Logistics Operations Manager you’ll ensure the robust launch and delivery of new systems, processes and methods for the future strategy of material planning and logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• To create and develop an environment, with a tenacious approach to continuous improvement, to enable us to transform the way which vehicle battery components are manufactured, to be recognised as the global benchmark for excellence
• The responsibilities for this role include working in conjunction with the plant operations teams to develop and deliver the plant scorecard objectives, ensuring that all activities meet expectations in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment
• Ownership and management of daily operations for Lead Logistics Provider onsite
• Provide MP&L support and leadership across the Plant and Propulsion programs for JLR
• Develop, lead and manage a team to develop and deliver multiple improvement projects to deliver improved process and systems for all logistics operations
• Benchmarking across all manufacturing and MP&L sites and ensuring all financial synergies are realized, advocating best practice and leading lessons learnt to implement sustainable innovation
• Strategy evaluation of all logistics systems through to deployment and delivery
• Development and management of a logistics systems budget
• Monthly status reporting and brochure issue for all business areas and all project targets
• Review all MP&L solutions, identify and develop business cases for improvement activities

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Strong knowledge in Production Operations and/or Supply Chain & Project Management Activities 
• Experience of managing Lead Logistic Providers 
• Deep understanding in Automotive or Manufacturing Industry 
• Proven track record of delivering result in a hugely complex environment (ideally SAP + MES knowledge)
• Driving innovation and simplification to deliver efficiencies within key business metrics (Idea to delivery)
• Strong Material Planning & Logistics and/or Production Operations experience (Ideally degree qualified)
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities including trade union working relations
• Highly self-motivated and assertive, able to demonstrate confident negotiation, communication and analytical skills
