WHAT TO EXPECT

Do you have excellent project management skills, with a strong awareness or experience in vehicle manufacturing?
 
As the Senior Programme Engineer (Manufacturing), you’ll be responsible for leading and co-ordinating all Manufacturing business functions with the objective of enabling production solutions for new JLR Vehicle Programmes and achieving excellence in Manufacturing delivery to time, cost and quality targets. 
 
This requires interaction & co-ordination of Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Finance, Suppliers and Commercial activities. 
 
The role offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in the end-to-end Manufacturing Programme environment within an Agile framework.  The Industrial Operations Programme Delivery – Manufacturing (IOPD-M) function holds a unique position at the heart of manufacturing delivery - from initial strategy and feasibility, through to detail launch planning and delivery and into volume production. 

This exciting role will bring you into contact with an extensive number of areas in the business and provide you with an opportunity to develop and utilise your transferrable project management skills in both the planning and delivery of our new products, within a Software and Features Agile group.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Support delivery of programme against overall programme timing plan for all gateways.
• Support the planning and delivery of manufacturing plans for delivery of prototype and pre-production build phases 
• Prepare accurate and objective technical status reports in support of programme/launch management meetings and senior programme gateway reviews
• Utilise standardised project management tools to support a smooth project delivery (Agile methodologies, P6)
• Identify and engage in continuous improvement & standardisation activities within the Central Business Operations team
• Lead and coordinate structured problem solving across cross functional teams in preventing and resolving Manufacturing issues
• Support all manufacturing functions in the robust resolution of programme issues to deliver product feasibility and manufacturing launch readiness
• Co-ordinate cost target development & programme cost studies within manufacturing
• Analyse & compile manufacturing financial input in terms of Capital and Operational Investment, tooling and launch costs.
• Lead cross functional reviews to address programme issues using issue management tools

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
 
As the Senior Programme Engineer (Manufacturing), you’ll need the following knowledge, skills and experience:

• Strong communication & leadership skills aligned to Creators Code
• Experience of project management
• Experience in using data driven problem solving techniques
• Experience of working in a new product launch environment 
• Experience of working in a quality focussed role
• Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point & Excel)
• Demonstrable experience of process improvement and working in a project support role
• Proficient communication and organisational skills
• Ability to travel between JLR sites to support the Vehicle Programme
