WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer, you'll take the lead of our GCP Cloud Platform, overseeing the development, maintenance, and optimisation of services. Your primary focus will be on managing GKE Kubernetes clusters that underpin microservice-based applications and the API platform.

You will be an expert in cloud infrastructure and have a proven track record in operating cloud services at scale. The role is a mix of hands-on and technical leadership.

In addition to supporting the full development lifecycle, you'll enhance the Developer Experience by refining the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and pipelines. Collaborating closely with the SRE team, you'll fortify reliability measures and shape Cloud Platform Strategies to ensure the resilience of

services used by teams.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Shape our approach to Platform Engineering in GCP.
• Lead a team of cloud platform engineers as part of our outsourced and partnership model.
• Provide Technical leadership for the design and building of the Internal Developer Platform, enabling multiple remote development teams to deploy complex applications into the cloud with ease.
• Drive the roadmap for our cloud platform offerings, balancing business needs against update risk considering a user base requiring round-the-clock uptime.
• Realise opportunities to automate and reduce toil in the SDLC.
• Ensure JLR's cloud deployments follow industry-leading techniques, continuously looking forward to the next improvements to add to the tech roadmap.
• Drive and facilitate continuous DevOps improvements.
• Ensure architectural, functional and regulatory standards are adhered to and non-compliant approaches are reviewed through relevant governance forums.
• Ensure the cloud platforms remain secure & up to date with the latest releases.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Strong technical leader with experience in (ideally) GCP.
• Proven Technical expertise in cloud architecture, including container orchestration and networking. Specifically, Kubernetes.
• Technical expertise in the DevOps deployment process, including CI pipelines and application security.
• Proven experience with IAC tools such as Terraform and ArgoCD.
• A strong understanding of Networking.
• Ability to effectively explain complex ideas and confidently present these to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
• Building of strong relationships & influence within business domains.
• Experience in FinOps / working with cloud infrastructure affordability in a transparent manner.
• A deep understanding of public cloud security best practices.
