WHAT TO EXPECT

As Principal DevOps & Release Engineer, you will take the lead on how we release software to production, hundreds of times a day. Your role will be deeply involved in fortifying our CI/CD pipelines and release practices.

We are looking for somebody to be at the vanguard of technical innovation, making the most out of our tech stack and implementing new technology and practices. Your goal is to make it simple, easy and safe for hundreds of developers to deploy & release whenever they need.

We are striving for an open-ecosystem based around the inner-source model and you will pioneer new strategies to allow our developer community to expand our platform with new and stable features. Data is everything to us, we welcome anybody who can help us drive metrics, such as DORA, to improve our day-to-day processes.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Shape our approach to our CI/CD pipelines.
• Work to federate ownership of our pipelines with our chapters such as; Quality, Security, SRE etc.
• Have a customer focused mindset. Working and listening to developers to understand their pain points and frustrations and using data to maximise your impact.
• Maintain the golden path to production with an uptime of 99.9% for all our release infrastructure.
• Drive practices such as canaries, blue/green and testing in production.
• Deliver pipeline & process telemetry such as DORA metrics and SLO's (in partnership with our Principal SRE)
• Shape how we deploy to our Kubernetes and service mesh (ISTIO) infrastructure.
• Work with our partners both on/offshore build on our DevOps culture and deliver changes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Strong technical leader with experience in (ideally) GCP
• A background in release engineering in a DevOps environment
• Experience with GitOps.
• Proven Technical expertise in cloud architecture, including container orchestration and networking. Specifically, Kubernetes.
• A solid engineering background in at least one or more programme languages (such as Java or NodeJS)
• Technical expertise in the DevOps deployment process, including CI / CD pipelines and application security.
• Proven experience with IAC tools such as Terraform.
• Proven experience of Continuous Delivery across multiple environments with tools such as ArgoCD.
• Ability to effectively explain complex ideas and confidently present these to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
• Building of strong relationships & influence within business domains.
• Experience in FinOps / working with cloud infrastructure affordability in a transparent manner
