WHAT TO EXPECT

 

JLR is committed to delivering three exciting new BEV platforms, whilst continuing to deliver our highly capable xHEV powerpacks into a range of world class products. 


To enable this as a business we have invested in a suit of fantastic test facilities, with Powertrain Test Beds split across sites at Ansty Park and Whitley.  These test beds are capable of testing the entire Powerpack to aid attribute development, sign off, troubleshooting and advanced controls development. They form part of our “Road to Rig” strategy where we continue to pioneer test techniques to improve quality, drive faster time to market and continue to develop class leading capability.


As the Test Operations Manager you will focus on the efficient operation of our internal PTTB test field, enabling the effective delivery of the quality assured test data in support of the development and maturation of our Powerpacks, ensuring external capacity is available when required. 


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and co-ordinate the test planning and execution activities of the Test Team in the full preparation of test facility and test parts to enable effective and timely data delivery.
  • Reporting of results and KPIs in local and senior forums and collation, tracking and reporting of budget and spend.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance, in the measurement and interpretation of Test data.
  • Lead continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and/or product quality.
  • Ensure that the team collate, manipulate and interpret data effectively and use it to inform engineering decisions (Data Driven Decisions).
  • Pro-actively manage test facility Safety Standards by ensuring all safety metrics are achieved, risks identified and mitigated and corrective action implemented for any accidents.
  • Leading and directing a multi-disciplinary team allocating responsibilities to ensure maximum effectiveness of the team. 
  • Enabling the effective mentoring and training of those in Early Careers and Training by members of your team as appropriate


WHAT YOU’LL NEED 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

 

  • Proven technical expertise and significant experience of test facility operations and system under test preparation.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with a wide range of instrumentation and test environment equipment and techniques. 
  • Proven experience of leading and developing engineering teams and providing technical advice and guidance. 
  • Significant experience of data analysis and reporting of test data
  • Ability to identify, influence, standardise and deliver process and efficiency improvements across direct team and customer interface departments.
  •  Ability to drive forward, achieve and maintain accreditation of relevant compliance standards.
  • Strong process centric approach to business delivery
  • Experience of health and safety regulations, reporting and monitoring compliance.  
  • Experience with IATF16949 or ISO9001 standards and requirements.
