This is a Hybrid opportunity working from home, with 1 day per week working in either our Birmingham, Manchester or Milton Keynes offices.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Claims Major Loss Team, responsible for the investigation, negotiation and settlement of large loss third party claims which include, bodily injury, occupational disease and third-party property damage.  You will be empowered to manage a portfolio of claims in line with your agreed authority as well as, continuing to develop your skills by managing a proportion of more complex claims on oversight.  

 

Your primary responsibility will be the proactive management of a personal caseload of high-value (up to £1m) motor and or casualty bodily injury claims to achieve effective and competitive settlements. There will be additional opportunities to cross-skill into occupational disease and/or public/product liability claims, and whilst experience of one of these disciplines would be desirable, it is not essential as full training can be provided. Other key responsibilities will include:

 

 

Build strong relationship with our brokers whilst ensuring that our customers remain at the heart of our proposition, supporting them throughout the claims process.

To validate policy liability fairly and accurately in accordance with our TCF principles.   

 

Consistently apply our Estimating Standards and best practice principles across the claim’s portfolio.

 

Undertake early investigations, accurately determining liability by optimising the use of our internal investigators and panel lawyers.

 

Work closely with our internal rehabilitation team to develop individual claim strategies which can then be applied to your most complex cases.  

 

To develop and implement specific case handling strategies across your portfolio to optimise settlement outcomes in line with our 100% compensation principle.

 

To collaborate with internal stakeholders sharing valuable insights into large loss trends which will support our approach to claim prevention.  

 

Supporting the development of others by sharing knowledge and coaching, acting as a technical mentor in line with our internal mentoring programme.

 

Play your part in supporting our quality programme, helping undertake peer to peer reviews to aid handler development and drive better outcomes.  

 

Continue to focus on your own development, maximising benefit from our internal skills matrix and succession planning frameworks.  

 

Support the delivery of business priorities and initiatives that which are aimed at delivering better outcomes for our customers, our people, and our business.

 

To maximise the insight provided through data to help drive efficiency and indemnity benefits across your portfolio.

 

Total compliance with all DPA/GDPR and Regulatory requirements, undertaking virtual training each month in line with our Company Standards

 

About You

 

You will have a proven track record in handling large loss Motor and/or Casualty claims up to £1 million or beyond, from notification through to settlement. Other key skills and experiences include:

 

Strong working knowledge of large loss claims management in the Multi Track across various jurisdictions.

 

Relevant experience of use of counsel, mediations, trials together with a strong understanding of expert evidence and legal issues.

 

Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence others.

 

Able to adapt and react to a fast changing environment.

 

ACII qualification (or equivalent) or progress towards is desirable
