The Royal Caribbean Group’s Royal Caribbean International Brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Revenue Management Lead on the Revenue Management team reporting to the Sr. Manager of Revenue Management.

 

This position sits on-site in Miami, FL.

 

Position Summary:

Revenue Management is responsible for strategic and tactical initiatives related to revenue maximization.  The Revenue Management department determines pricing, works closely with Sales and Marketing to develop promotions to increase demand, controls availability to ensure full utilization of inventory, explores new business opportunities and is integral in developing policies.

 

The Europe portfolio is the largest product portfolio outside of Caribbean, accounting for 11% of the ticket revenue. Given the diversified sourcing, Europe itineraries are managed in three base currencies. The Miami-based RM is responsible, in conjunction with the UK commercial team, in meeting revenue targets for the UK market, which is comprised of a locally sourced itinerary as well as UK sourcing to other European programs. The latter requires the management of air commitments valued at $6 Million.  

 

The Revenue Management Lead, Europe, is responsible for the creation and implementation of a strategic plan to maximize revenue for the UK-based ship and one other ship with a high number of UK guests and air commitments. This includes determining pricing throughout the deployment cycle, helping with both global and domestic sourcing strategies, assisting Deployment with the maximization of hardware utilization, and monitoring economic and market trends to adjust the strategy when necessary. 

 

The Lead manages, coaches, and develops two direct reports to enhance their skills and capabilities.

 

The Lead may be asked to spearhead important revenue initiatives for the department.

 

The Lead develops strategic plans to maximize ticket revenues and utilization of inventory for Europe programs, with a focus on the UK market. This includes the creation and oral presentation of the strategic plans to senior management, as well as tactical plans and decisions in reaction to changing market conditions. Also, the Lead will oversee development of Strategic Pricing, ensuring compliance with anti-trust and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

 

The Lead will initiate cross-departmental action plans and promotions with Commercial Sales and Marketing when indications point to demand and pricing softness. The Lead also coordinates promotions to address product needs and develop initiatives that drive volume through more cost-effective distribution channels.

 

The Lead will foster ongoing clear communication and relationship building with international teams, with a focus on UK team.

 

The Lead will ensure international pricing and taxation guidelines are met while staying abreast of international and industry rules and tailoring strategies and pricing actions accordingly. They will manage pricing in multiple currencies and develop and track international `sourcing goals in conjunction with International Division.

 

The Lead will generate, monitor, and change Revenue forecasts (occupancy and net ticket goals) that support quarterly Wall Street guidance. In addition, the Lead will be responsible to develop demand curves.

 

They will also drive continuous improvement of policies and processes as well as the enhancement and creation of tools. The Lead will represent Revenue Management in system overhauls that deliver benefits to a variety of pricing related activities.

 

The Lead will develop working knowledge of Data Mining tools (Hyperion) and demonstrate expertise in analytical tools such as Excel, to effectively execute strategies and tactics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Lead is responsible for strategies and decisions that directly impact net ticket revenue for a product portfolio that represents between $150m to over $200m in annual revenues.

 

The Lead is also responsible for strategies and decisions that directly impact occupancy levels which drives onboard revenues and other revenues.

 

The Lead is responsible for helping forecast both ticket revenues and occupancy levels, as well as tracking the impact of market and economic changes on this forecast.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university required with focus in quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s degree (MA) strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in revenue management; preferably one year experience as a senior II analyst.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and problem identification.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret revenue performance data.
  • Ability to structure logically quantitative analysis of complex issues.
  • Ability to operate in cross functional environment.
  • Ability to manage, coach and develop direct reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and use proper judgment.
  • Willingness to accept immediate product and project responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentations skills.
  • Ability to work in global environment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail is absolutely required.
  • Competency of computer systems and applications is essential, with an emphasis on the ability to access and manipulate data from a variety of sources.
  • Strong Excel, Power point and Hyperion and basic Colonial/AS400 is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities at once and operate in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Revenue Management and micro-economics is preferred. 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations, and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
