MAIN PURPOSE

 (

  • To facilitate the production of quality electrolyte products through planning, control, and continuous improvement of robust quality systems at the new electrolyte blending facility in Madison, WI.
  • To generate batch documentation following sales order receipt and review executed batch production documentation following completion to ensure all processes and product specifications have been met.
  • To generate and review shipping documentation and prepare shipments of finished goods to customers.
  • To lead a program to qualify and release raw materials for use in electrolyte blending activities.
  • To support coordination of test timing and analytical data reporting to achieve targeted shipment dates.
  • To support the design, development, installation, validation and improvement of analytical instruments, methods and technology.

The role will support the implementation of new and improved laboratory systems, processes and procedures.

 

  1. COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB

e.g. The occupant manages vendors from different geographical regions with various financial and legal conditions, level and impact of decisions the occupant needs to make.

  • The QA Lead is responsible for implementation of quality procedures and leading the quality program at the electrolyte blending facility in Madison, WI.  
  • The position is critical to the successful production and release of fine chemical products with exacting quality standards
  • This position must work with general direction to ensure quality tasks associated with batch production and release, including testing of incoming raw materials and finished goods, supports customers’ expectations for high quality product meeting expected shipping timelines.
  • This position will support preparation and release of hazardous material shipments to customers including review and release of batch quality documentation and labeling.
  • This position’s tasks will be executed in a hazardous chemical environment where attention to detail is imperative for worker safety
  • The position will require fine attention to detail for meeting product quality standards
  • This position will monitor process and product quality, including leading quality-specific investigations, to ensure a high level of control in the blending of custom electrolytes.
  • The job holder will be responsible for successful implementation of improvement projects in the Quality area involving introduction of procedures to better support production, new equipment, analytical techniques or test methods.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize work supporting business production, sales, and customer demands, coordinating material release schedules to ensure production schedules and shipping schedules are not impacted by timeliness of results reporting.
  • Generate batch production documentation, review executed batch documentation against required product specifications to ensure product meets criteria.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and prepare shipments to customers.
  • Review results of samples submitted to the QC lab.
  • Carry out investigation into any abnormal occurrences in the Quality area and report to the QC Lead, production personnel, and others as appropriate.
  • Lead or support technical projects to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and/or compliance of Quality processes, procedures, and IT systems.

 

Work closely with production, technical, and QC teams to understand production processes and analytical requirements to support problem-solving and/or improvement activities.

  1. EDUCATION

Minimum: Degree in Chemistry or related subject.  Relevant experience can be accepted in place of the education requirement.

  1. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Knowledge from experience of working in a QC laboratory, preferably to cGMP standards or similar accreditation.
  • Knowledge of Analytical techniques and wet chemistry testing performed in the QC lab (KF, GC, IC, HPLC, ICP-OES).
  • Knowledge of equipment troubleshooting for instruments used in techniques listed above.
  1. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 5 years’ experience of working in a Quality team or QC Laboratory in the chemical manufacturing industry, coordinating Quality activities with production teams to achieve production goals.
