 An exciting opportunity for a Qualified Engineer to join our Engineering Support team, delivering engineering projects at our Connah's Quay site. This role, reporting to the Engineering Support Team Leader, is an excellent opportunity to work within a forward looking team in an inclusive, supportive environment. You will support the delivery of mid to long term engineering strategies that focus on the health and performance of the station. These projects cover all aspects of engineering discipline.

Your responsibilities

 

  • Proactive qualified Engineer to support the delivery of medium and long-term engineering strategies at Connah’s Quay Power Station, to ensure its long-term engineering health & performance.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements in plant and engineering practices, this is a flexible role which requires the role holder to plan, coordinate and deliver technically complex projects to provide safe, sustainable solutions which maximise commercial benefit.  You will also have contract management responsibilities and will be expected to develop contract specifications & safely manage engineering contracts and teams.
  • Working with Engineering teams to ensure reliability and maintainability of new and modified plant, you will participate in the development of design, quality, installation & acceptance tests and will influence the design and development of commissioning plans.
  • You will be expected to understand, and use recognised investigative and operational excellence tools, i.e. root cause analysis, to develop and deliver measurable improvements within your area of expertise.
  • Contributing to the business planning process, you will be expected to build costs for specific projects and develop project narrative.  Liaising with Uniper Technology Group and diverse site & fleet teams, stakeholder management & engagement, together with a sound awareness of new developments & best practice, will be key.
 

  

Your profile


  • A degree (or higher) qualification in an associated subject – Engineering, Science, Energy Economics or similar. A HNC together with extensive relevant experience will also be considered.
  • An applied understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards and a positive safety mind set possessing the ability to drive the correct safety culture in others, supported by a safety management qualification (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health – Managing Safely / National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health Certificate).
  • Demonstrable track record of developing & delivering technically complex projects with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to time, cost & quality.
  • A proven ability to identify and analyse complex situations by isolating key issues evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions to deliver results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work across functions.
  • A structured and engaging aptitude for contractor management, forming enduring working relationships and identifying win-win solutions.
  • The confidence to challenge established practices and deliver imaginative solutions.
