Senior Press Officer at Uniper

 Can you help us build and protect Uniper's reputation in the UK? We're looking for an excellent communicator to join our team; helping to manage our external communications, and act as a spokesperson for media enquiries, proactively building relationships both internally and externally.

Your responsibilities

 

  • You will work with the UK Communications Manager, to implement proactive communication plans to support UK business activity, working with the Project comms team and Uniper stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate messaging for the national, trade and regional media, and social media.
  • In your role, you will act as spokesperson towards UK media, both proactively and reactively. Responding to media queries by phone or from the press office mailbox as appropriate and as aligned with the business, maintaining a log of media contact and responses given. This might involve working outside of normal working hours.
  • You will build positive relationships with key UK media and secure coverage for Uniper in the UK, developing the appropriate materials as needed. (e.g. press releases, advertorials, website copy)
  • You will work closely with the Energy Policy Manager and UK Communications Manager to ensure that the company’s position and key messages are clearly defined and disseminated to appropriate external target audiences, supporting the positioning of Uniper appropriately in the political/regulatory climate.
  • Within this role, you will have line management responsibility for the Press Office Advisor
  • You will have oversight of our press office related contracts and agencies and ensure that our contracts are renewed as appropriate.
 

  

Your profile


Essential

  • Demonstratable, significant press office experience including strategic planning and execution skills
  • Proven strong communication skills – both written and verbal - with good attention to detail and the ability to translate and communicate complex information
  • Experience of line management
  • Able to confidently work independently and rely on own initiative, drawing on own extensive PR experience
  • Excellent relationship building skills, and stakeholder management skills and demonstrable influencing skills with experience of dealing with colleagues at all levels and internationally
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure and to manage change diplomatically
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent deadlines and priorities
  • Exceptional team player
  • Demonstratable issue and Crisis management experience

Desirable

  • Energy industry and/or Utility experience desired
  • Experience of working within a matrix organisation
  • Relevant degree such as Communications studies or Media studies
