We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Modeller to join Royal London’s group Data Office. As a Senior Data Modeller, you will work closely with various teams to translate business requirements into effective enterprise data models that ensure data integrity and support reuse. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in data modelling and a passion for the insurance industry to make a significant impact on our organisation.

Reporting to the Enterprise Data Modelling Manager, your main goal will be to design, map, model, and document data from different source systems into the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and to develop views and data marts on a Microsoft Azure Cloud Data Platform to exploit this information.

About the role

• You will continue the extension and expansion of the Royal London Enterprise Data Model (EDM).
• Be able to work with business and technical stakeholders to understand and model data required for different initiatives.
• Involved with Modelling new data domains and data attributes in existing data model.
• Manage mapping of data from legacy source systems into the EDM.
• Be able to develop physical data models for deployment on a Microsoft Azure Lakehouse.
• Review modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility to the EDM.
• Ability to work in both agile and waterfall delivery teams.
• Oversee modelling activity of other team members.

About you

• You will have excellent data modelling skills, covering both normalised and dimensional approaches.
• An understanding of Enterprise-wide data architecture. As well as knowledge of domain-based data modelling. With experience of Data Modelling tools, ideally IDERA ER Studio is beneficial.
• Strong experience of Cloud & Data Warehousing concepts (such as Kimball, Lakehouse).
• Experience in Reference Data Management modelling.
• Knowledge of modelling data for Cloud Data & Analytics services, ideally on Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Bricks, Delta Lake).
• Experience working with Databases and ETL/ELT technologies.
• An ability to present technical concepts to stakeholders at different levels.
