Job Descrption

How do you ensure Overhead Line maintenance works are planned and delivered effectively?


You will play a crucial role in supporting the development of actionable Overhead Lines (OHL) work plans within tactical timelines and establishing site-specific project target costs for successful delivery. The exposure you will get to other areas within National Grid and being asked to support on various different business developments/issues will further help with your development and progression. This role is hybrid with a mix of home, office and sites covering Staythorpe at Notts, Penwortham at Preston, Skelton Grange at Leeds and West Boldon at South Tyneside.


As the Overhead Lines Scheme Coordinator Engineer, you will be responsible for the North team overseeing pre-delivery site access works, including the coordination of consent applications for road/rail crossings and conducting environmental assessments to ensure compliance during the pre-site delivery stage. Additionally, you will manage pre-delivery Operational Maintenance and General Services (OMGS) and oversee contracted works to ensure adherence to project requirements. Your responsibilities will extend to coordinating project development activities and effectively managing project risk and budgetary considerations at least a year ahead of implementation.


Furthermore, you will be tasked with overseeing all pre-delivery temporary works and ensuring compliance with Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM). You will also lead the production of pre-construction work packs during the pre-delivery phase and provide essential support for overhead lines in scheme tender evaluations. Finally, your role will involve managing pre-delivery contracted works, reviewing Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), implementing safe systems of work, and ensuring overall compliance throughout the process.


What you’ll need
A minimum HNC or equivalent in an Engineering, Business or Project Management discipline. Strong experience of managing multiple stakeholders. NEBOSH. Effective management and control of agreed project expenditure and of allocated budgets. Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills. Risk and programme management. Desirable - Sound technical understanding of OHL project delivery.

Pay and Benefits

•    A salary of £49,310 to £62,399 pa + Benefits package + Training and Development.
