As an Insurance Adviser, you’ll support National Grid’s strategic goals by providing expert insurance, claims and risk management advice and support, with a particular focus on partnering the Strategic Infrastructure business in the UK.

 

You’ll provide insurance consultancy and solutions for new projects and technologies and is responsible for identifying insurable risks and managing them through cost effective provisions of insurance solutions. 

 

In addition, you’ll support the global insurance and reinsurance strategy and solutions by providing strategic thinking, data collection and representation of material matters and exposures. 

 

This role can be based out of our Strand or Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
 

What You’ll Do:

  • Leading in the assessment, review, and recommendation of insurance requirements for the Strategic Infrastructure business and its respective investment projects. 
  • Implement approved insurance strategies to ensure appropriate protection of National Grid’s assets, insurable liabilities, and new business developments.
  • Leading special studies to ensure placement of coverage with proper limits of coverage, deductibles, and retentions. 
  • Set direction by maintaining up to date knowledge of insurance markets. 
  • Advise businesses on issues related to risk and insurance within commercial contracts. 
  • Provision of credible data and analysis to support underwriting disclosure to various insurers/reinsurers.
  • Drive performance improvements by establishing and sharing best practice, challenging peers, and maintaining key relationships across the insurance sector.
     

What You’ll Have:

  • Insurance and risk management background ideally from within in-house positions, insurance underwriting or brokerage.
  • Experience in leading and placing insurance programs in the US, UK, or global insurance markets. 
  • Reviewing and negotiating insurance terms and conditions including policy wording reviews experience 
  • Detailed knowledge of usual lines of insurance coverage purchased to support large complex infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to review and advise on insurance provisions within project and finance documents, including liaison with lenders’ legal and other advisors.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, you can build and develop strong cross-functional business partnerships.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Self-discipline and strong organisational skills
  • A positive attitude, high motivation, and the ability to maintain a culture that is based on teamwork, respect, and integrity.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities and meet deadlines.

This is a hybrid working role from our Strand or Warwick office with circa 2 days per week in the office.
