Senior Import/Export Logistics Specialist at PROCEPT BioRobotics

Job Descrption
PROCEPT BioRobotics is a surgical robotics company enabling better patient care by developing transformative solutions in urology. With an initial focus on BPH, the company’s AquaBeam® Robotic System delivering Aquablation therapy, is the first FDA-cleared, automated surgical robot for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotics and heat-free waterjet ablation for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes, independent of prostate anatomy, prostate size or surgeon experience. 
SUMMARYThe Senior Import-Export Logistics Specialist ensures seamless execution of Procept product logistics, optimizing efficiency in cost, quality, and timely delivery. This role will manage import/export movements, optimize freight rates, and ensure compliance with FDA and US customs regulations. Collaborating with supply chain teams, they coordinate material transportation, resolve shipment issues promptly, and cultivate strong relationships with transportation providers. Conducting thorough audits and participating in freight rate negotiations, they aim for cost savings. Lastly, the Senior Import/Export Logistics Specialist will foster cross-functional teamwork to streamline processes and uphold company policies and quality standards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be required as assigned)

  • Manage and coordinate movement of imported and exported Air and Ocean shipments/containers to customers.
  • Work with the supply chain to assist in coordinating the movement of imported and/or exported material to ensure correct HTS codes, method of transportation, and optimized freight rates. 
  • Provide early identification of problematic shipments. Communicate/resolve with stakeholders and coordinate/ implement solutions.
  • Work closely with transportation providers, ensuring efficient and effective execution of defined processes. This includes confirming shipment ETA’s, reviewing routing, confirming shipping lines, government agencies, and port releases, requesting/confirming wire payments, scheduling delivery appointments, dispatching orders, and confirming empty container returns.
  • Audit entry summary for each assigned shipment. Ensure the accuracy of information based on established procedures.  Investigate issues and bring discrepancies to the attention of the Logistics Manager.
  • Review invoicing and allocate freight costs. Liaise with Account Managers, Accounting, and transportation providers, as needed, to resolve discrepancies.
  • As needed, assist in negotiating freight rates with transportation providers, targeting cost reduction, freight savings, and service. 
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skill sets to manage international inbound and outbound shipments proactively. 
  • Partner with stakeholders to secure goods and services at an optimal timeline while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and foster teamwork with internal customers and partners.
  • Analyze frequent spend and develop recommendations for improvement in cost and processes.
  • Adhere to company policies, Procurement, Finance, Quality, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and all corporate policies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality System and Approved Supplier List.
  • Maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance
  • Understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics’ Quality & EHS policies

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Certifications)

  • College degree in logistics/transportation preferred or 5 years equivalent of related Logistics experience in an Import/Export environment.
  • ERP systems (QAD preferred), strong Excel skills, and Med Device experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Import/Export concepts rules and regulations, including FDA and US Customs agencies.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of shipment clearance and procedures for both air & ocean.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze domestic and international shipping documents, contracts, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to solve challenging logistical problems and work with minimal direction.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel.
  • High level of initiative and proven team player.
  • Foreign language skills a plus.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $96,000-133,000 a year.

PROCEPT BioRobotics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we aim to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. While our ranges are posted, the exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, location or comparison to other employees already in similar roles. In addition to base salary, our positions are eligible for variable compensation through one of our incentive plans as well as equity compensation based on role and level. PROCEPT also offers a comprehensive suite of benefits including, but not limited to, health insurance plans, ESPP, 401k retirement savings plan with a company match, and paid time off programs. All compensation and benefits programs are subject to the discretion of the company.
