The Research Integrity Lead will join the Research Integrity function at Emerald as part of our legal and ethics function. You will be responsible for ensuring that all research published by Emerald is conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards, including honesty, rigour, transparency, and care.
Day to day we’ll trust you to:
Line manage two Research Integrity Managers , and oversee team performance in terms of meeting key objectives through clear goal setting, development of team members and defined performance plans
Resolve publication ethics issues arising in the journals in a tactful, timely and strategic manner that safeguards the reputation of the Emerald titles whilst addressing commercial concerns
Update and implement ethical guidelines and policies, proactively working towards avoiding ethical issues and proposing new policies in line with industry standards
Liaise with other teams to drive forward process optimisation including use of technology to increase efficiency and reduce errors
Lead the Ethics Forum
Engagement with industry bodies and forums
Stakeholder management particularly within the Publications Business Unit (incl. Editorial Board and Chief Editors) to ensure Emeralds policies are adhered to
Continuous improvement of the research integrity team: developing simple, scalable solutions which drive the business forward
Develop training and self-service guidance materials on key topics
Work closely with and report to the Legal Director and escalate issues posing legal or reputation risks to Emerald
You’ll need to have:
Significant experience of working in a similar role within academic publishing
Skilled in working on high-level projects involving multiple stakeholders
Management experience
Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English. Tactful, diplomatic, an inspiring presenter and leader
Confidence to make decisions and challenge colleagues to manage business risk and promote appropriate governance
An interest in technology and process improvements
Data-driven, with a keen business sense and process optimisation focus
Solutions focused attitude
Openness to change and growth
