Moffatt & Nichol specialises in engineering, planning and environmental consulting services, with a focus on complex challenges in the marine and coastal and environment. We are actively looking for an Environmental Consultant to join the growing team based at our Exeter (preferred), Farnham or London office to support our work in a range of sectors including maritime (ports and harbours), flood and coastal erosion risk management and offshore renewables.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our teams across Europe to continue to grow our marine and coastal service offerings, adding depth to our environmental expertise and helping our clients navigate environmental consulting processes. You will bring project management and client relationship experience, and in return will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients from across the public and private sector in both the UK and overseas.
You will have an understanding of the development consent legislation and mechanisms which apply in UK coastal and marine environment (e.g., harbour orders, marine licenses, planning permission), as well as the various environmental assessment processes (e.g., Environmental Impact Assessment, Habitats Regulations Assessment, WFD Assessment, etc.), and environmental protection measures (e.g., site and feature designations).
You have a first degree, and preferably a post-graduate degree, in a general environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, marine resource management) and/or a specific environmental discipline (e.g., marine biology / ecology), and will be proficient in the application of GIS as an aid to project appraisal and communication in the course of your work. You will have up to 5 years of relevant experience.
