  • key delivery of project and programme controls for complex projects
  • managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and providing a leadership role to project and programme controls teams. 
  • They are responsible for ensuring all work and outputs are executed to meet business plans and goals.
  • This role presents a genuine ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity on governmental and non-governmental backed nuclear programmes comprising exciting ‘mega’ projects for the right individuals to add to their CV and take up the challenge.
  • Arcadis are seeking flexible, dynamic individuals with UK Nationality or have the required UK National Security level to pass UKSV Security Clearance to support these highly challenging, interesting, and potentially rewarding programmes.
Role accountabilities:   As a Project & Programme Controls Director within the Nuclear team you will be required to;
  • Lead an operational team, setting objectives, managing performance and ensuring that staff have the necessary skills to deliver their objectives.
  • Translate business objectives into operational financial targets, producing clearly defined business cases and taking responsibility for meeting the profit and budgetary targets of the project.
  • Spearhead the implementation of complex multi-disciplinary teams, working to mid-long-term timescales, to ensure delivery standards meet expectations.
  • Monitor and review the performance and behaviour of all team members, including educating and influencing others, and take action to ensure organisational policies and codes of conduct are followed.
  • Assure compliance with contracts in terms of delivery parameters and scope of service.
  • Evaluate and review complex information from a range of data sources to identify how different options may impact project delivery and advise clients and internal stakeholders on potential implications.
  • Ensure change control is managed and communicated throughout the whole team so that the change is managed effectively at what ever stage of the project lifecycle through to completion.
  • Develop project controls processes and policies and Manage the implementation of system improvements, ensuring developments are in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders in order to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and collaboration, to ensure commercial viability and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a technical expert, providing strategic advice to other senior managers in order to support successful delivery of multiple projects or programmes in line with account plan objectives and strategies.
  • Manage and build relationships with client, regulators project and programme sponsors/stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed and aware of progress and are aligned to meet objectives and key project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:   Arcadis is seeking expert, Senior and Mid-level Planners and Risk Managers with recognised expertise in project and programme management, including risk management with the following required and desirable criteria. Required;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • You should hold or be working towards relevant professional qualification or chartered status.
  • You should have strong experience delivering projects using the NEC suite of contracts.
Desirable;
  • Extensive time served Project / Programme experience in the Nuclear industry (or complex Infrastructure), within at least two businesses with strong communication and line management skills.
  • Core knowledge of Cost, Commercial, Estimating, Planning, Risk, Reporting & Quality disciplines in a Project / Programme lifecycle.
  • Experience / ability to review and understand the consequence of Cost, Time & Risk outputs, such as Critical Path Analysis, Monthly Cost & Commercial reporting and Risk reviews, including QSRA/QCRA.
  • Experience in ensuring timescales / deadlines are realistic and met, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Previously worked as a Senior / Project Controls Manager (S/PCM) within the Nuclear industry (or complex Infrastructure).
  • Experience of dealing with Government, Regulator and Clients' Senior Stakeholders, i.e. Review / Submission meetings.
  • Previous experience of building business case / sanction request to support Project / Programme requirements, with the ability to ensure Governance and Assurance alignment / approvals are "right first time".
  • Ability to deputise for Senior Project Managers / Directors or Discipline leads.
  • Commitment to site working / living, if required.
  • Experience delivering projects within the Nuclear / Energy sector, if not then within another regulated environment (i.e. water, rail, defence etc.) would be acceptable.
