We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Senior Compliance Assurance Consultant with our Conduct & Compliance team.

Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,800 colleagues have ever worked.

We’re the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer our 12 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£259 billion of assets under administration. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.

The role

If you like lots of variety, learning something new every day and meeting people from across the business, this is the role for you!  You meet people to understand their processes, how they achieve good customer outcomes and manage regulatory risk. Guided by our methodology, you assess the strength of the processes and controls, draw conclusions on their effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement. The main product of your work will be writing a report. Reviews can take between 1-3 months, which enables you to focus on the area and get a good understanding of how things are working. The aligned Compliance Assurance Manager provides support, guidance and direction throughout the review.

This is an exciting time to join the team, especially with the implementation of Consumer Duty which requires delivery of good outcomes for retail customers. We have a key role to play in helping colleagues meet this higher regulatory standard.

If you have what we are looking for, we'll give you the support, tools and opportunities to help you develop and succeed.

The responsibilities are:

  • Plan, undertake and deliver all types of compliance assurance reviews in line with team processes. This includes interacting with senior management within the business and, where relevant, outsourced service providers.
  • Deliver reviews efficiently and within agreed timeframes.
  • Draft reports to a high standard appropriate for the audience.
  • Ensure that where management actions are identified that these are tracked to resolution and escalated where necessary.
  • Provide regular updates and support to the Head of Assurance in reporting to key committees.

 What are we looking for?

  • Relevant industry experience, preferably in a Compliance Monitoring/Assurance role or Internal Audit background.
  • Strong understanding of financial services, specifically Life and Pensions and/or Asset Management knowledge, as well as knowledge of product administration processes and outsourced service arrangements.
  • Knowledge of the statutory and regulatory framework applicable, including FCA or TPR rules and guidance. Customer and conduct risk focused.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks and adapt to the changes in demand and priority.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, including the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be self-directing.
  • Strong team working, influencing and interpersonal skills.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
