Research Publications and Systems Administrator

UE05: £27,979 - £32,332 per annum, pro-rata at 0.5FTE for part time hours; approx. £13,989 - £16,166 per annum

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science / School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences

Part time: 17.5 hours per week

Fixed Term: approx. 12 months (maternity cover)

 

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to recruit a part time, fixed term Research Publications and Systems Administrator.

 

The Opportunity: 

 

The post holder will provide a high standard of administrative support relating to research publications, bibliographical metadata and open access. They will work closely with members of wider Research support team in Professional Services, as well as interact on a regular basis with all members of our academic community, meaning this role will deal with queries from a wide variety of stakeholders across the school.

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences provides an exciting work environment through its three subject areas that have a diverse and dynamic research and teaching portfolio. 

The post holder will actively support and contribute to the school’s success and will be encouraged to also deliver ideas for continuous improvement opportunities as they arise.

The role shall be based within Dugald Stewart Building. Opportunities for discussion on informal hybrid workplace arrangements can be discussed at the time of offer, however please note that some on campus working is required.

This post is fixed term for an expected duration of 12 months (maternity cover). 

 

Your skills and attributes for success

 

  • Educated to at least vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 3, ONC or equivalent), plus work experience in a relevant role; or School education to standard grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good level of competence with Microsoft Office, and general IT literacy.
  • Experience with databases/bibliographical metadata standards with the potential to master university-specific core systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when dealing with high volumes of data.
  • Previous experience working in an academic research environment or with digital archives/repositories would be highly desirable.
