Main Duties
- Reporting to the Client Support Manager
- Responsible for developing software to meet customer requirements in line with agreed goals
- Responsible for building own understanding of client requirements by attending internal and external meetings as required, reading appropriate bulletins and papers, working closely with colleagues
- Produce software in line with team goals and alerting the Client Support Manager of any problems which arise
- Liaise with clients about requirements and propose solutions internally
- Participate in support service for the system
- Provide ad hoc support to the Senior Leadership Team as required
- Willingness to work flexible hours at times, based on needs
- All posts at Whitespace are administratively self-servicing
Compliance & Training
- Adhere to all company & regulatory policies and procedures as instructed
- Carry out all training provided to deadlines prescribed
- Work with compliance on IT relevant areas such as Data Security and Financial Crime
- Execute the responsibilities of a company employee acting in a lawful and ethical manner in accordance with your contract of employment and company staff handbook
- Work with department manager for own professional development, including performance appraisal and identifying and meeting training needs in order to ensure competence and compliance with current regulations
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications
• Degree in computer science or another scientific discipline, with equivalent demonstrable programming experience
• Experience in both C# and C (or C++).
• Experience in Java in place of C# would also be considered
• Good working knowledge of SQL
Required
• Robust understanding of C language dos and don’ts
• Self starter
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent listening, negotiating and presentation skills
• Understanding of Stakeholder management
• Understanding of client needs and ability to react to those
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Solid experience with MS Office
• Willingness to learn and be agile in a fast-paced environment
• Experience of working in a team of programmers and support analysts
• Ability to operate collaboratively with colleagues is essential.
• Ability to listen and retain new information quickly to disseminate to relevant internal stakeholders
Desirable
• Entry level understanding of the global Insurance Industry
• Understanding of insurance acronyms and terminology
• Broad understanding of the London Insurance Market
• An interest in technological advances in Insuretech
• Experience with DocuSign, Crystal Reports, Excel Macros
