The Senior Director of Brand Strategy is primarily responsible for continuing to build and deploy Visa’s brand positioning to ultimately enable Visa to drive relevance and preference with key audiences, and across Visa’s business priorities. A keen ability to understand and anticipate cultural and commerce trends, turn insights into actionable strategies, and connect it back to innovating Visa’s global brand is critical to success.
This individual and his/her team will work with Marketing Executives, key global stakeholders and five regional brand teams to successfully bring to life – and evolve over time – the strategy for the Visa brand, currently ranked the 6th most valuable brand in the world, according to BrandZ.
The position reports to the Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Planning and will be based in Visa’s San Francisco, California or New York office.
Essential Functions
Oversee the global brand strategy to advance Visa’s Positioning.
Innovate the Visa brand by anticipating cultural and commerce trends and applying insights to actionable strategies that improve brand preference and relevance.
Apply brand strategy to creative strategy for marquee applications of brand positioning.
Lead Brand Strategy Agency Relationships, Budget, and Personnel.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
•15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
•Thought leader of effective creative, brand development, and multichannel marketing campaigns, with a focus as a brand and innovation strategy leader and specialist.
•Deep agency-side or client-side experience working with or at global brands.
•Excellent people leader with proven ability to manage teams, the work, and influence outcomes in highly matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders.
•Role models and influences aspirational behaviors of leading courageously, obsessing about customers, collaborating as one Visa, and executing with excellence.
•Strong executive presence with highly effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present with impact.
•Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
•Resourcefulness with strong sense of accountability and results-oriented drive.
•Ability to initiate and drive opportunities independently across multiple complex projects that have strategic implications for the brand and company, while operating in an environment that changes quickly.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 192,700.00 to 301,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
