Job Description

The Government Engagement (GE) team aims to create broad alignment between Visa’s business objectives and public policies that affect the payments industry. Externally, the GE team engages a wide range of stakeholders to raise awareness of and build support for policies that expand access to and usage of digital payments around the world. Internally, GE works closely with colleagues across the company including Global Policy, Products, Business Solutions, Merchant & Acquiring, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Marketing, Communications, Visa University, Social Impact, Risk, Legal, and Compliance.

 

The Global Government Engagement Team is seeking a Strategy & Operations Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Operations. The Manager will play a strategic role across the GE function, helping manage global operations and drive strategic initiatives while coordinating across all the regional GE teams. The Manager will play an influential role within the Government Engagement team to ensure regional alignment.

 

This US-based position requires the ability to work cross-functionally with the business and act as a liaison between the other internal functions across the world including Sales, Legal, Product, and Strategy as well as external partners. This role will manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and must demonstrate a flexible mindset and positive attitude and ‘can-do’ approach to the work.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Vice President, Global Head of Government Engagement Strategy & Operations, to ensure smooth operations both at the global and regional level.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between the regions and cross-functional business partners.

  • Main liaison with external organizations and consultants managed by the Global GE Strategy & Operations team.

  • Collaborate with regional counterparts to develop knowledge tools and solutions.

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain the GE Narrative (Deck for internal/external use, Talking Points, etc.)

  • Support in the content development of materials and presentations for internal business reviews, management events, and external conferences targeted for internal and external stakeholder engagements.

  • Build and maintain new and existing portals, as well as relevant platforms to share information, collaborate and provide real-time updates to all GE team members.

  • Manage global reporting including weekly bullets to executives. Support monitoring, tracking, and reporting of GE activities and updates.

  • Maintain and enhance management tools to ensure timely and efficient reporting of regulatory developments, including our CRM tool (Dynamics)

  • Assist with all internal audit processes as well as compliance, risk, governance, records management, controllership, etc. 

  • Own all tasks related to the Political Participation, Lobbying, and Contributions Policy (PPLC), including our commitment to the board, in terms of political contributions reporting.

  • Serve as subject-matter expert and go-to resource for all matters related to our Political Participation, Lobbying, and Contributions Policy (PPLC)

  • Assist in the planning of internal and external engagements, including but not limited to quarterly Town Halls, and other special external events.

  • Support with strategic projects and initiatives as they arise across the Global GE team.

  • Assist in the management of GE contracts and work statements, as needed.

  • Support employee engagement activities for the Government Engagement team

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Excellent judgment, ability to act with discretion and handle sensitive information.
• Must have outstanding interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Successful candidates should have a proven track record of consistently delivering meticulous work within tight deadlines.
• Influencing and negotiation skills as well as complex analytical abilities
• A willingness to challenge preconceived attitudes and behaviors and shape future thinking.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
• High attention to detail with ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and distill it in crisp, clear language appropriate for a variety of audiences
• Highly proficient and advanced in PowerPoint and Excel
• Global perspective and awareness of market differences and commonalities
• Strategic mindset that seeks to improve and elevate programs and processes
• Strong process orientation and ability to define, document and improve program planning processes as well as other processes
• Ability to work-cross functionally with a broad range of internal and external partners. Manage multiple assignments concurrently, efficiently generating high-quality deliverables
• Excellent collaborator with strong interpersonal communication skills
• Results driven with a focus on quality execution and outcomes
• Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, both internal and external

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 132,300.00 to 191,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
