Job Description

The Europe Acceptance Business Development team builds partnerships and business plans to increase Visa payment volume in segments that are underpenetrated in card acceptance. The team also champions acceptance products and services with the markets to support the evolution and development of Visa acceptance network. This team sits within the Europe Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A) team.

Within this team, the Director, Corporate Payments Acceptance Business Development will be the subject matter expert in driving acceptance of Visa commercial cards for business-to-business (B2B) payments across the European region. The team’s focus within B2B acceptance is to identify vertical-specific needs, assess opportunities and right-fit solutions, and quickly act upon our vision of growing corporate supplier card acceptance while ensuring strong execution. It is critical to understand the corporate payments market and client sector needs and develop a client centric sales strategy to deliver new sales and grow revenue. This role specifically is responsible for owning specific B2B verticals on the card acceptance side, including development of corporate merchant and partner relationships. This is a people leader position with expectation to grow the team as the B2B acceptance strategy matures.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Be the MS&A subject matter expert on corporate card acceptance and develop strategic approach to B2B acceptance for each of the target verticals

  • Own a Business Payment Solution Provider account, managing stakeholders in the C-suite. Deliver strategic and tactical account plan initiatives, and work consultatively with this client to proactively retain and grow the account

  • Expand Visa’s Business Payment Solution Provider model to create new acceptance points for more corporate payment types and markets

  • Develop and close agreements to expand B2B volume through Visa commercial card acceptance

  • Position Visa as a preferred method for commercial payments, and drive implementation of Visa solutions working in collaboration with product colleagues including Cybersource, Tink, and other acquired businesses

  • Manage merchants, suppliers, and partners with a consultative and strategic approach to uncover a full understanding of their card acceptance processes and challenges

  • Deliver thought leadership on corporate payments to acquirers to help identify B2B growth opportunities

  • Liaise with cross-functional colleagues to own the end-to-end deal process and governance, including developing business cases, securing senior Visa stakeholder endorsement, and completing the contracting

  • Support cross-functional due diligence efforts with prospective partners, including financial, product, technical and systems assessment

  • Communicate to internal and external executives to summarize deal terms and strategic fit

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Experienced, results oriented leader with a proven track record in managing clients/accounts, developing relationships and sales partnerships across large businesses
• People management experience preferred
• Demonstrable knowledge of the European B2B payments industry landscape, trends, and opportunities
• Ability to influence people, plan, prioritise, and track execution across cross-functional and with external partners
• Strong business, commercial, and financial acumen and political smart and savvy to build credibility, lead and guide key client and internal stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving experience with a challenger mindset
• Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-enterprise, goal oriented, objectives with multiple stakeholders
• Exceptional communication skills (written, oral, and presentation)
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across functions and geographies in a complex matrix environment
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time
