The Opportunity

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer in Test, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.

The Work itself

• Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability 
• Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings 
• Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads 
• Develop and test robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions. 
• Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with product owners and technical staff globally to define requirements for new features and enhancements to the platform.
• Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
• Question and think outside of acceptance criteria to identify exception scenarios, error states, etc.
• Write and maintain core components of the overall payments processing platform and develop deep knowledge and understanding of its structure and function.
• Ensure written code is clean and well-structured with appropriate tests and documentation that meets the agreed requirements.
• Contribute regularly and positively to discussions regarding internal process and system improvements to ensure maximum efficiency across the company. Including suggesting technical solutions to problems.
• Identifies appropriate techniques and creates test plans for testing procedures to identify and resolve defects for multiple features.
• Identifies tests and tools required to execute testing and lists expected testing results to inform the planning for one or more product feature.
• Implement best-fit automation framework and corresponding tests. Write utilities/automation tools using Java.
• Respond promptly and professionally to requests for support.
• Support incident management to fix Production issues when they occur and the restoration of service as rapidly as possible.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java 5+ (Core Java, memory management, concurrency, functional programming).
• Experience in Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Experience in GIT, Maven, Jenkins or such build automation tools.
• Experience with automation testing tools such as RestAssured, Postman, TestNG, JSON, XML Parsers, Jenkins, Cucumber and Github.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to write and run complex queries for data validation.
• Experience in Rest API testing, performance testing basics and security/authentication.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and iterative software development lifecycle principles.
• Experience with at least one Relational and/or NoSQL database.
• Experience with JavaScript and front-end technologies/frameworks like Angular or ReactJS is desirable.
• Experience using Jira and confluence.
• Proficient in the use of an IDE – IntelliJ preferred.
• Knowledge on containerization tools like Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Kafka and cloud-based application architecture and principles is a plus.
• Experience in the Payments domain is a plus.
