Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Trainline’s B2B division and drive change in the way millions of people book their business travel each day on the UK's leading rail platform. If you are passionate about product management and are looking for an opportunity to work with seasoned leaders in an ambitious, market-leading tech organisation, then this opportunity is for you!

You'll be improving the web and app experience for business travellers, companies, and their employees, delivering initiatives to increase customer numbers. These are strategic opportunities to drive ambitious business growth outcomes with a very visible customer impact. We a have huge ambition to expand our user base across UK and Europe.

You will be working in a fully Agile and cross-functional team alongside Engineering, Design, Research, Commercial, Marketing and Product colleagues to help us revolutionise the Trainline Business travel experience and develop market leading product and features.

Responsibilities

  • Be passionate about customer needs. You have strong empathy and are the customer advocate. You evaluate and understand customer insights and align them to the work your team is delivering to ensure user needs are met.
  • Take problems and generating ideas for improvements, resolving ambiguity, and comprehensively exploring options whilst championing an outcome driven approach.
  • Harness data tools to generate insights, communicate hypotheses to wider audiences and share learnings from both successes and failures.
  • Help drive discussions from ideas among Commercial, Marketing, Design and Product teams into product requirements.
  • Lead/participate in Agile ceremonies coordinating squad’s priorities and output and be responsible for upholding a high standard of user stories while helping the squad understand the “why”.
  • Be an effective member of the squad leadership with Engineering, Commercial, Marketing and Design partners, influence the squad's mission, and help coordinate the squad's output and team priorities.
  • Own and manage the squad’s backlog.  
  • Keep track on squad priorities and coordinate with partners across the business.
  • Monitor and report on product metrics, generating ideas for future improvements.
  • Prepare and perform product demos for stakeholders.
  • Produce and maintain meaningful documentation in the area to enable concise and effective communication with team, peers, and business stakeholders.
  • Own and define OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) as well as the short and medium-term roadmap for a squad.
  • Build credibility by striving to understand technology decisions and implications and build knowledge of your domain.

Qualifications

  • Worked in a fast-paced environment where you’ve had to think on your feet and bring people together to problem solve.
  • Able to put yourself in the role of the customer and gather insights to really understand what is of value to our users.
  • Experience with effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Agile frameworks, writing user stories, setting sprint goals, and collaborating with teams on acceptance criteria would be beneficial.
  • Analytical thinking and decision making, able to weigh up conflicting priorities and make the right decision using a balance of qualitative and quantitative data inputs.
  • Proven experience of writing effective, concise documentation and specifications
  • A reasonable working knowledge of the UK rail industry would be beneficial.
  • Not a necessity but it would be a bonus if you have had commercial experience within a tech company working closely with/within a product or engineering team.
