Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Financial Planning for a 6 month contract, to play a pivotal role within the Finance team in ensuring our planning cycles are coordinated effectively and executed with rigour and precision. The role creates a bridge between the worlds of Commercial Finance and Management Accounts, bringing the two  together through strategy planning, budgeting and reporting to synthesise an end-to-end view of the Trainline Group business. A qualified accountant combining strong commercial instincts and a knack for collaboration, you will be a strong advocate for process improvements and will embrace new tooling to help take FP at Trainline to the next level.

• Financial planning: lead business through planning cycles and help implement the delivery of a new re-forecasting process:
• Coordinate process across Finance team: timetabling, managing templates and input submissions
• Lead forecasting across full P&L, Cashflow, Balance Sheet
• Synthesize key figures, drivers, assumptions throughout the process for Finance and Exec discussion
• Capture and evaluate risks & opps
• Build Exec-ready output to ensure successful sign-off
• Set non-financial KPIs and communicate with wider business in support of budget
• Deliver monthly rolling forecast update to help the Company manage trade-offs in delivering against financial targets and maintaining financial control
• Build narrative to facilitate trade-off decisions at Exec level
• Support and improve the monthly review process by automating and standardizing material and owning the overall story with input from the wider Commercial Finance team.
• Strategic planning: support business through strategic decision-making process, including
• Contribute to objective assessment of past investments and future opportunities, including ROI analysis
• Develop ad hoc tools for analysis to support business challenges and opportunities
• Investor and Analyst narrative to support education, consensus mgt, guidance etc.

Qualifications

• Strong and charismatic in your management style but also someone who is not afraid of 'mucking in' and getting their hands dirty
• Qualified accountant
• Strong project management and organization skills to manage multiple work streams and meet deadlines
• Suitable relevant experience including planning consumer-centric business, ecommerce
• Passionate about data-driven decision-making
• Attitude: can-do; hands-dirty; comfort with ambiguity
• Common sense: strong commercial nous; creative problem solving
• Storytelling; experience of board-level output
• Great fundamental skills: xls & ppt; people engagement
• Experience of FP tooling and aptitude to learn; familiarity with Anaplan, or other forecasting too, a nice-to-have
